Mamoru Hosoda's 2012 Film Wolf Children Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary with Special Illustration

The film earned 4.42 billion yen from its original domestic run

Exactly ten years ago, on July 21, 2012, Mamoru Hosoda's second original anime feature film Wolf Children was released in Japan. To commemorate its 10th anniversary, Studio Chizu's official Twitter account has posted a memorial illustration. It was newly drawn by the film's animation director Takaaki Yamashita and art director Hiroshi Ohno. A clear file set featuring the visual is now available on Nihon TV's official online store at 770 yen (5.57 USD).

Following his first original feature film Summer Wars in 2009, Wolf Children was released on July 21, 2012, then earned 4.42 billion yen (32 million USD) to become the sixth top-grossing Japanese film of the year. It has also become the third top-grossing film in Hosoda's career, behind BELLE (2021 / 6.6 billion yen) and The Boy And The Beast (2015 / 5.85 billion yen). The film's Blu-Ray + DVD combo pack is now available on Crunchyroll Store.
