Digimon Adventure 02 Anime Film Reveals 1st DigiDestined, Updated Character Designs

DigiFes 2022 made good on its promise today and revealed a bunch of new information for the upcoming Digimon Adventure 02 anime film that follows on from 2020's LAST EVOLUTION Kizuna film, including the updated character designs for the now 20-years-old 02 DigiDestined, the apparent "first person to partner with a Digimon" and the official title for the movie – Digimon Adventure 02 THE BEGINNING. A logo for the film was also unveiled, which can be seen in the top image.

Joining the returning cast from Digimon Adventure tri and Digimon Adventure LAST EVOLUTION Kizuna are:

 

Megumi Ogata (Shinji Ikari in Evangelion) as Rui Owada

Rie Kugimiya (Happy in Fairy Tail and EDENS ZERO) as Ukkomon

Digimon Adventure 02 THE BEGINNING is a direct sequel to Digimon Adventure LAST EVOLUTION Kizuna and is set in February 2012. The story follows Daisuke (Davis in the English dub) as he meets Rei Owada who descends from Tokyo Tower and claims that they're the first person to partner with a Digimon.

Tomohisa Taguchi is returning as the director of THE BEGINNING from LAST EVOLUTION Kizuna with Akatsuki Yamatoya also returning to pen the script. The animation will once again be produced at Yumeta Company with Toei Animation acting as a producer. No word yet on when the film will be released, though the event today showed the first part of the film to audiences.
