Studio Ghibli composer Joe Hisaishi, best known for being a long-time collaborator on all of Hayao Miyazaki's anime films, has tested positive for COVID-19. The news was announced by the producers of his Joe Hisaishi Symphonic Concert: Music from the Studio Ghibli Films of Hayao Miyazaki, which confirmed that this weekend's shows at OVO Arena Wembley in London are canceled due to the music composer being unable to travel.

Hisaishi was set to conduct the BBC Concert Orchestra at Wembley set to scenes from previous films that are shown on a big screen. A message from Joe Hisaishi was released by the producers:

Hello everyone who was looking forward to my concert, I'm very sorry that I can't do it. I got infected with corona.

We will definitely have a concert soon, so let's meet at that time. I'm looking forward to seeing you.

Thank you!

The producers confirmed that the Joe Hisaishi Symphonic Concert: Music from the Studio Ghibli Films of Hayao Miyazaki will still be going ahead, just that dates aren't yet confirmed. Tickets previously purchased can be carried over.
