The ending theme for this season's The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten has premiered, and lucky us—Mahiru is singing us a song! But not just any song... one that may be familiar to fans of J-pop, recent anime, and VTubers.

If you feel like you've heard the song before... well, you're almost certainly not wrong! First performed by punk band MONGOL800, "Chiisana Koi no Uta" has become extremely popular. Covers pop up everywhere from YouTube to anime image song albums. Rie Takahashi's cover of the tune also featured as the fifth ending for KARAKAI JOZU NO TAKAGI-SAN.

Kenichi Imaizumi (After School Dice Club) directs The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, with Keiichiro Ochi (The Quintessential Quintuplets) writing the series composition at Project No.9. The original light novels written by Saekisan and illustrated by Hanekoto are published in Japan by GA Bunko with seven volumes released so far, with volume eight releasing on January 23, 2023. Yen Press releases the English version of the novels, and describes the story:

Mahiru is a beautiful girl whose classmates all call her an “angel.” Not only is she a star athlete with perfect grades—she’s also drop-dead gorgeous. Amane‚ an average guy and self-admitted slob‚ has never thought much of the divine beauty‚ despite attending the same school. Everything changes, however‚ when he happens to see Mahiru sitting alone in a park during a rainstorm. Thus begins the strange relationship between this incredibly unlikely pair!
