One-Punch Man Manga Co-Creator Yusuke Murata Releases 2-Minute Animation of Saitama Grabbing Groceries

Murata created the animation with the help of manga staff

One Punch Man

Legendary manga creator Yusuke Murata is no stranger to trying out new skills and instantly becoming a master. Sometimes this training and his own perfectionism cause One-Punch Man chapters to be delayed on the Tonari no Young Jump website, leaving fans wanting more.

To apologize to fans today for the latest chapter being delayed, Murata posted a 2-minute One-Punch Man short on his Twitter account that he directed with animation from the manga creator, his team, and a few freelancers.

Murata said in a follow-up Tweet that he wishes to add voices, music, and more to the animation, as well as work on other animation, not just One-Punch Man-related works.

All I can say is that for a debut work, Murata seems to have translated his skills into animation quite well. Though this isn't surprising to those who have read the One-Punch Man manga, which you can do so on Viz's Shonen Jump app.

One-Punch Man has been adapted into two TV anime seasons, with the first in 2015 from Shingo Natsume at Madhouse, wowing anime fans will its brilliant animation, before moving to J.C. Staff for the series' second season under the direction of Chikara Sakurai in 2019. Crunchyroll is streaming season one of One-Punch Man and describes the series as such:

Saitama started out being a hero just for fun. After three years of “special” training, he became so powerful that he can defeat opponents with a single punch. Now, alongside Genos, his faithful cyborg disciple, Saitama is ready to begin his official duties as a professional hero working with the Hero Association. However, the frequency of monster appearances is surging and it increasingly appears as if the Great Seer Madame Shibabawa’s prediction about the Earth’s doom is coming true. In the midst of this crisis, the “hero hunter” Garou makes his own appearance.
