A must-watch for fans of the slice-of-life genre
Crunchyroll seems to be on a roll, as it were, in introducing some of my all-time favorite anime series.

Aria follows the life and career of female "undines", or girls who pilot gondolas on a future terraformed Mars, now called "Aqua". The show is beautiful, thoughtful, and sublimely directed. It has moments of lightheartedness, but is generally not frivolous or silly. Akari and her friends ...

    Another GREAT series.
I don't know if it's possible for others as it may have been a matter of time and place, but when this anime came out it changed my life. I don't say that lightly. It's impact didn't last forever but at the time it changed my outlook on life. That's a lot to put on a series, any series, really, but this was the first time I was ever introduced to the concept of a slice of life story.
    There is no ...

Are you feeling down? Sad about something?
If you answered yes to one of these then have I got something for you.

    Follow these simple step:

Sit down start the first episode and just relax and let the girls take you on their journey to become Undine, you will not regret you did.

  • Unreasonably relaxing slice of life on another planet
Set in the future on my favorite planet, Mars, after it was terraformed into my favorite thing, an ocean, this slice of life anime follows a gentle protagonist who works as an apprentice gondolier. The creators have made a whimsical and beautiful world to escape into.

If you're stressed and need a little break from everything, I highly recommend this show. It leaves me so relaxed, and dreaming ...

  • Potentially Life Changing
I've been in love with the Aria series for about 8 years now. While its age may show a little bit in its animation limits, the series is truly beautiful inside and out. It is my highest standard of what slice of life should be, and holds its place as one of my top favorite series of all time. Now, it may not be as enlightening for you as it has been for me, but I can assure you any anime lover ...

  • Supremely Comfy but Showing Its Age
First, a few things out of the way - 3 stars from me means solidly good, but not amazing or genre defining. I do not always watch slice of life anime, but when I do I prefer those with elements of the supernatural or extraordinary and I tend to watch only the very best (e.g. Planetes, Haibane Renmei).

Aria is the kind of show that I might rate higher if I had seen it back when it came out. I ...

  • Pleasing to watch and listen to
There's not much of a plot to the story aside from the main character training to become an Undine (gondolier,) but I think that's what makes it fun to watch. You journey with the main character to a beautiful alien city that is similar to Venice, and watch her day to day life unfold; and every day is a new adventure and experience that brings her closer to achieving her dream. Being slice of ...

  • A very good, but extremely hardcore slice-of-life series
This is a very good series, but extremely hard-core slice-of-life. Many mysterious things occur during Akari's exploration of the city of "Neo Venezia" on the planet of "Aqua" (Mars terraformed to the point of having liquid water on the surface).

The only recurring theme is of Akari exploring "Neo Venezia". There isn't much of an overall storyline aside from her being in training to ...

  • A Gem! Must Watch!!!
Apparently this was a "classic" anime, from 2005! Only, I hadn't heard of it before now and I'm sad that I've only found out about more than 10 years later!! I am happy though that I finally am getting to see it! I'm so glad Crunchyroll got it!

It's an anime that's slow and steady- like a gondola gently floating down a river. It's very calming to watch. That's all it is, but it is beautiful ...

  • Now y'all don't know how many times I've watched and rewatched this show!
Okay, I'm going to be real this show is in my Top 5 of all anime, and easily my absolute top in Slice of Life (followed by Amanchu, Flying Witch, and others). Is you like slice of life, if you've had a bad day, or if you just want to watch a show to feel good and have some minor faith in the world, THIS IS IT!

This anime is made for you just to enjoy life. When they get season 2 and 3 up here ...
