    This anime is about books.
Hey, you like books? Well, this is the Animu for U. They got books, they got reading and most of all they got friendship and at da end of da day, that's all that matters. You know I remember thinking back to my youth of anime watching and I can only remember like one anime that had books, and that was the one about a grown man pretending to be in high school. He hung out with a baby with blonde ...

    Interesting premise lackluster execution
The show has an interesting premise surrounding books, if you're a bookworm like me, you'll probably find some enjoyment here. The animation is very basic and sound design is meh at best, so far, the characters are rather empty, but it has potential.

    Refreshing Slice of Life Isekai
What makes this story so special for me is the respect that it pays the other world characters. It's relatively easy to find a story of this type where the reincarnated Japanese brings civilization to a medieval fantasy world. In those stories, everyone in the world lacks the common sense of an everyday modern citizen and it's really just about the ego trip.

Much of what we know from our ...

  • Very Promising Anime!!
Crunchy Roll, what are you doing to me?!?! You cannot just give a teaser for one of the best animes I have ever watched like Ascendance of a Bookworm! I just hope it isn't a short season show. Please make more like this one and longer stories, thank you!!

    So Heartwarming and Wholesome!
I was so disappointed to see yet another isekai anime, but 3 ep in, so far so good. It doesn't look like your typical isekai anime. It's about young woman who loves books and is devastated to be isekai'd into a world without any, and as an adorable frail little girl there isn't much she can do about it yet. As a huge book lover this has my heart so far and I completely understand her passion. I'm ...

Early review - hard to say what's in store
After a somewhat bizarre reincarnation sort of opening, a bookworm takes on the memories and body of a very young girl in a world where books are a rare and precious commodity.

The first episode was pretty slow, and didn't do much but show the setting and tease the future of the series a bit. The artwork is good, although it definitely looks like it's going to be a kid-friendly sort of story. ...

  • Adorable slice of life isekai
So far the first episode is pretty boring, but I wonder if this is an anime that starts slow and builds up, who knows, so far I really love the art style and animation, its not generic isekai trash animation that we see in other isekai, the animation is smooth and clean, this anime has a lot of promise for possible world building scenarios in future episodes, and its kinda odd, giving the ...

Ascendance Is a Slice of Life Isekai That Follows...
...Motosu Urano, a bookworm who transported into another world and took over the body of a fragile blue haired girl named Myne. Her desire to be able to read books again pave the way for encounters that form new and exciting relationships.

    -Review-
This adaption has its genuine aesthetics and the animation quality is what you would expect from a temp seasonal show. It lacks action but makes ...

  • These Books Are Myne!
A modern young Japanese woman dies in an earthquake and regains consciousness in the body of a child living in something like a Medieval European world. She absorbs the memories of that child, named Myne, and assumes her life. (We learn that Myne was a frail girl, so perhaps she passed on from illness? Because as creepy as that sounds, it sure beats the alternative, which would see Urano ...
