    A disgrace to the original.
If you have watched the original, then you will probably ask yourself why this exists. I'm not going to spoil things in this review, but I want to deter people from watching this. It is not even done by the original creators, and it makes the original pointless in ways I won't spoil.

The original Basilisk is an adaptation from a 50s novel. This novel influenced so many classic anime that are ...

    Basilisk : The Broken Sequel
The confused art direction, the choppy fight scenes, the character designs... even the voice acting just doesn't quite work. If you told me an 8 year old boy threw the plot together during a ninja phase I'd almost believe you, except that it lacks a child's active imagination. I really wanted to like it. I did. But I'd be lying if I said any interest I had in Basilisk: The Ouka Ninja Scrolls ...

Won't make the 3 Ep Trial
Well.. I'm hugely disappointed. I really enjoyed the first series. The story was excellent, animation style was on point, and it wasn't trying to be anyone else. But this... this is.. a bastardized Naruto+KissxSis+FMA+Ironman+Steampunk cluster f***. ALL IN JUST 1 EP! Like I said earlier, the first series knew what it was. It knew what it wanted, and how to get there. The main heroine is ...

Belated continuation to Gonzo's classic ninja war - first impressions (fully updated)
Edit/preface: This series only carries the name Basilisk to lend it credibility. Nothing to see here. It's not a Basilisk sequel in anything but name. Feel free to read my initial review, but this is a terrible disaster that I have revised from 3 to 1 stars after 20+ episodes.

The Ouka Ninja Scrolls is a far-removed continuation of Basilisk, a terrific ninja anime produced by Gonzo back in ...

    Still Waiting For The "Hook"
Three episodes in and it hasn't capitvated me like the original series. It is getting better by each episode but I'm just waiting for the hook.

The original was rather grim, filled with action, wonderful animation (for it's time), and memorable fights with an awesome portrayal of a 17th century Japanese "Romeo and Juliet."

The fights after three episodes seem boring and are over rather ...

    Only Watch The Original
Don't get the wrong Impression, I love the original show. It was dramatic, suspenseful, beautiful, and heartbreaking from episode one. When I saw a second season I was more than disappointed. The ending of every episode left me hoping the show would turn around a surprise me and be as brilliant as the original. I never got that. Starting with a weird plot line (including incest) then killing off ...

everything is off in this anime
I rarely give bad review but this is just one of the worst anime I have started to watch.

Animation is a complete fail, The fight are terrible, the voice are bad. I tried to find something were I could hook myself and get interested and after 4 episodes it still none.

I thought it would get better
Do you remember Basilisk? Do you remember how awesome the ninja war was between kouga and iga? Well, this anime sets out to ruin every good thing about the original. It takes place where somehow, the protagonists of the last series had kids, and they are getting along swimmingly. Unfortunately both the kouga and iga are slaughtered yet again, separately by a new group called the Jojinshuu who can ...

Wow! This was really, really bad.
Hmm, let's see... What's this show got going for it?
    1. Ineffectual protagonists (which isn't exactly fair because of the...)
    2. Villains who can do whatever magical nonsense the plot calls for (and...)
    3. Writers who hate protagonists

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for some tragedy, but this show is just an exercise in self-abuse (of the flagellation variety, not the kind that puberty ...
