  • Intriguing, strange and beautiful
I just wanted to give it 5 stars, I don’t have a well thought out review. I like how unique and strange the show feels, and I appreciate that not everything is clear right away (I like slow buildups that take patience but then are rewarding). And I find the visuals and music beautiful.

  • Well I can't understand a thing but whatever.
This series is very hard to understand. Be it psychological and philosophical elements it contains or even remembering names of characters, It is very hard to watch and understand.(English isn't my mother language maybe that's also a factor.) However I watched 16 episodes so far and I loved series. I already saved a few quotes to my favorite anime quotes list so I will give it 9/10. I will ...

I really wanted to give this four stars, but they f'd up
FWIW, I have not seen the original anime that other people tend to talk about. While starting in medias rex can be used to great effect (people still read the illiad and odyssey) here is an example where it falls flat. They have an original world full of super natural powers, large corporations and ordinary high school kids somehow effecting them. If that sounds cliched, it isn't as bad as it ...

The concept has potential but the story did not deliver
After watching the first 3 episodes I was thinking "what have I watched?". Not that I did not follow the story line. It is just that the scenes are cut in non-linear order for the purpose of confusing the watcher; thus making it seems more interesting. If the story and ideas behind it is actually exciting and fresh, I don't mind the non-linear method. But unfortunately, in the end it is kind ...

    It all makes sense eventually.
I'll start by saying this is not an anime for people that don't have patience or isn't overall curious about or willing to put pieces together. The more you watch, the more you'll fall in love with how the story progresses and builds. You'll start to understand why characters find themselves in interesting predicaments. The enemies that BoogiePop faces are vastly different in ideals and you can ...

A Nostalgic but Refreshing Change of pace
Being an older anime fan, I have to say its nice to get back to something more 90's in narrative quality of being layered in a plot. The vibe is a lot like the first Boogiepop series or Lain where the viewer is in for a slow melancholy ride of existential feels.

Not Worth Watching, Better Stories Found Elsewhere
After making it past the first nine episodes, I have found this show to be remarkably bland. It feigns complexity while offering uninspired stories (particularly the second arc) and lacks any sort of character development or even sophistication in their portrayal.

    Existing on a different wavelength
And now for something completely different.
I was not familiar with the manga or the 20 year old Boogiepop Phantom, so I'm just as new to this story as anyone else. It's not your typical high school anime. It's violent, at times surreal. This is a psychological piece, a work of art that focus on emotion over linear plot- so you have to be willing to immerse into something and let it play with ...

For Those Saying, "IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND!" Just Relax and Enjoy.
A story is supposed to have questions in it, it's supposed to lead you to a hallway and let you walk down it yourself, not shove you through (sorry that was a little dramatic).

    1. "I don't know what's happening!" - You're not supposed to know yet, it'll get there, relax.

    2. "I can't remember peoples names well." - Anytime significant plot is being told, they use names AND faces, any other ...

    Stranger-Things-anime <3
Reminds me of stranger things, but with an anime swing on things and more death. The setting in the anime seems a lot stronger than stranger thing's but at the same time, I enjoy them both. I love Crunchyroll and I am glad they can provide us with such amazing entertainment.
