  • Great plot, hilarious... Had it been a bit longer...
This anime has great artwork, well thought out fighting/combat, and a good sense of comedy without getting too ridiculous. The characters and are dynamic and endearing. The weaponry is fantastic. The twists are unexpected and attention-grabbing. The flow of each episode is crafted to keep the energy and balance the fun with the serious. The thought provoking ethical/moral dilemmas are quality. The ...

  • Anime similar to a Michael Bay summer action flick
What I liked about this anime is that as soon as I saw the first episode, I was hooked. It had the right amount of mystery and also fun characters to make you want to see it through. There is a seriousness about the situation that never gets too overbearing. There are even comedic moments scattered throughout, like in a summer action flick. The characters are really likable, and you always find ...

  • Great action and fantasy anime that actually has an ending
In this day and age, I'm pretty much expecting most anime's to end before they even get halfway through the story-line (they are expecting you to complete the story through manga or VN). They actually brought the whole series to a close in this series. Chaika was interesting to watch to the end, and it kept me interested. I recommend this to any person looking for a good fantasy-type anime.

  • Written to be mediocre
This series starts and ends as a mediocre adventure. The writers seem to be afraid of change and don't promote any growth in any of the characters. My biggest gripe is with how the writers handled Fredrica. She was added to the group around what...episode 4? And was NEVER utilized. She even asks the MC REPEATEDLY to utilize her and for some reason the MC just ignores it or says no.

    This is ...

    Above average action/adventure
I quite liked this show. When it comes to the quality of the plot, characters, animation and art I'd say each are just as good as the other. There's no filler episodes, the story is always advancing towards what turns out to be a mostly satisfying ultimate battle. Fight scenes are fluidly animated. The setting is quite interesting, containing a blend of ancient and modern technology. The main ...

  • Worth it! (Watch it... duh)
I was scrolling down my feed to find some new stuff, then saw this again, and stopped to write this review, because I loved this show so much the first time. Simply put, the characters are lovable, chaika especially, and all the story keeps you wanting more. Do yourself a favor. :p

    Couldn't Give it A 5
Honestly, hands down awesome first season. Lovely way to build characters, even having dopplegangers didn't feel like a push. The only thing that made it a little boring was having to add in the "troopers" storyline. Loved the fights, loved how effective/ineffective Chaika was. But I was stoked for season 2, but it didn't deliver like it should for me. The fights didn't have that "extra punch" ...

    Chaika - A decent adventure/quest anime
The show follows the adventures of Chaika, Toru Acura, Akari Acura, and Frederica. The main thing that pushes the show forwards is Chaika and her quest to to obtain all the preserved body parts of the late emperor Arthur Gaz. Supporting her in this quest is Toru and Akari: two adopted siblings who have known eachother since birth, saboteurs from a typical village hidden in a valley. The two have a ...

  • Excellent watch that keeps going until right before the end.
Excellent story with plenty of action, laughs, and drama to enjoy throughout the series. The only real problem with the series is the ending that seems to fall flat like production got cut short and had to be wrapped up immediately. Not the worst ending to a series I've seen, but not the best either.

Enjoyable action anime with a few interesting ideas
This is actually a hard series to review - while it has few obvious faults, it doesn't excel in anything either. One could say it's slightly above average in most respects, the main exception being the humour, which mostly feels forced and poorly executed.

Thankfully, while average, Chaika isn't completely generic. One thing that definitely stood out to me were two of the main characters: the ...
