A New Twist On An Old Formula
Okay, standard demon hunters for hire setup with flashy battles and well-crafted magic graphics. What's particularly interesting about this typical shounen anime is there is no dull-ass Japanese 1st year high school student With A Magical Gift. It's rare to get actual experienced warriors who don't just jump in the cockpit of a Gundam and magically kick Mary Sue ass. Intriguingly, it looks ...

A show that suffers from the same flaws as most fantasy animes
The premise was promising and so was the cast of voice actors for this anime, so what went wrong?

Well the animation is sloppy and relies on CGI too much, although the victorian atmosphere is pleasant. Unfortunately, like almost any fantasy show these days, it has too much comedy and slapstick humour, which takes away from character development and story.

A redeeming factor at the very ...

Painfully Generic Demon Hunters Fighting Painfully Generic Demons
This is just ridiculously generic. The characters are stock archetypes, the plot is cookie-cutter revenge... there's essentially no depth to the setting or characters, which isn't helped by them standing around explaining things that are obvious.

You shout "slow down" and things slow down, fine. You don't have to say "my 'slow down' power lets me slow things down".

    The ...

So far not great not garbage
First episode kind of sets up the same way Fullmetal Alchemist does. Not saying that this is the same quality just that the story feels similar. As in, two brothers (
) make a mistake which leaves them cursed and now they're on some journey of redemption and/or to fix their curse. The big issue I have ...

Typical Story, Unique Presentation & Style
If all you want is plot, this is worth 1-2 stars. (As of ep 2, too early to judge though since the main plot revolves around time shenanigans).

If all you want is a refreshing art style and characters that are just quirky enough that you don't feel like you've seen them before, this is worth 3-4 stars. (Same is true of Clockwork Planet - the visuals and theme of time are relatively rare ...

    Couldn't finish the first episode
Action sucked, too much cheese, characters don't react to things like people would in real life (EX: there's a monster attacking, you block its attack then turn around with your brother and do a long team rocket-esque intro to a random person). Nah, I'm good.

    Ignore the cliche'-idiots
People who dis a show just because it has a well-used plot are fools who do not realize that every single anime, book, even song, is a rip-off cliche of some other book, anime, or song written before it. That doesn't make it a bad show. Frankly, I don't see the whole "oh, this is soooo cliche" that the other reviewers whine about. So just because it has two brothers as the main characters, ...

    You can try it but...
Honestly you can give it a shot and see what you think, however, take your pick, the battle animation or the writing, both are really bad.
I like giving things a chance but I think I've never had character development of the protagonists shoved down my throat in 2:30 minutes like a simple exposition, after that I honestly didnt bother anymore, and you probably wont as well.

    Generic, but oh that Jazz
Overall, the story and characters are fairly bland, but not so bad as to detract from the show. In its presentation, the the surprisingly good cg integration and the immersive soundtrack save it from being a drop. A good refinement of its genre, it lacks anything to really single it out. 7/10

Commit to it and rejoice, because you will be in for a pleasant surprise
This is an anime that hits a lot of cliche's early on. Don't let that get in the way of latching on because there is a lot to like about this show. The comedy may come off as overbearing at first but the writers start to pick their spots better as it progresses, and it is funny. Lots of mystery for an action show which is cool, and the characters motivations are inconspicuously complex. The voice ...
