TV series & film planned for Hirota Ida's web-comic about a boy who moves to an unfamiliar prefecture
Actor Shotaro Mamiya will star as the lead character in a live-action film and a live-action TV series based on You Don't Know Gunma Yet (known in Japan as Omae wa Mada Gunma wo Shiranai), a humorous web-comic by Hiroto Ida about a high school boy who experiences extreme culture shock when he moves to Gunma Prefecture.
In You Don't Know Gunma Yet, Mamiya plays Nori Kamitsuki, a high school student who transfers from Chiba Prefecture to Gunma Prefecture, only to be blind-sided by the sheer number of cultural differences in his new home. The TV series will feature an original story-line in which Nori falls in love with a local girl named Kyo Shinooka.
The original You Don't Know Gunma Yet manga is serialized in Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch digital manga magazine. The TV series adaptation is directed by Kaku Mizuno and features screenplays by Shogo Kashida. The 4-episode long series will be broadcast weekly on Nippon TV during the 24:59 time slot beginning on Monday, March 06, 2017 (actually 12:59 AM JST on Tuesday, March 07, 2017).
