Satoshi Kon's Psychological Thriller "Perfect Blue" Heads to U.S. Theaters

GKIDS and Fathom Events team up for limited theatrical screenings on September 06 & 10, 2018

Perfect Blue, a landmark psychological thriller theatrical anime film directed by Satoshi Kon and based on the novel by Yoshikazu Takeuchi, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its release in Japan, and now New York-based film distributor GKIDS and Fathom Events are teaming up for a set of limited screenings in U.S. theaters in September of 2018.

GKIDS describes the story of Perfect Blue as follows:

Rising pop star Mima has quit singing to pursue a career as an actress and model, but her fans aren't ready to see her go... Encouraged by her managers, Mima takes on a recurring role on a popular TV show, when suddenly her handlers and collaborators begin turning up murdered. Harboring feelings of guilt and haunted by visions of her former self, Mima's reality and fantasy meld into a frenzied paranoia. As her stalker closes in, in person and online, the threat he poses is more real than even Mima knows, in this iconic psychological thriller that has frequently been hailed as one of the most important animated films of all time.

Perfect Blue will screen in the original Japanese language with English subtitles on September 06, 2018, at 7:00PM local time, and in an English dubbed format on September 10, 2018, also at 7:00PM local time. For more information, including venues and ticket sales, please visit the Perfect Blue event pages at the official GKIDS and Fathom Events home pages.
