When you think of what makes a Hayao Miyazaki anime film special, it might be tempting to leap right to the visuals. Sound design also plays a crucial role, though, and that definitely applies to 1984's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Based on Miyazaki's own manga, the film is considered a classic today, and that status is thanks in no small part to the incredible music of Joe Hisaishi.
