Nine Accursed Souls Join the Cast of the Blade of the Immortal Anime

Adaptation based on violent seinen manga by Hiroaki Samura hits Amazon Prime Video in October of 2019

Immortal ronin Manji faces off against a gang of goons in the upcoming Blade of the Immortal anime.

 

Nine new cast members have been revealed for Blade of the Immortal (known in Japan as Mugen no Juunin -IMMORTAL-), an upcoming anime based on the violent seinen manga by Hiroaki Samura about a ronin samurai who is cursed with immortality until he can wash his sins away in the blood of a thousand wicked men. The new cast members includes:

 

Anotsu Saburo from Blade of the Immortal.

 

Yōsuke Akimoto as Anotsu Saburo.

 

Kawakami Araya from Blade of the Immortal.

 

Masato Obara as Kawakami Araya.

 

Habaki Kagimura from Blade of the Immortal.

 

Jôji Nakata as Habaki Kagimura.

 

Byakurin from Blade of the Immortal.

 

Marika Hayashi as Byakurin.

 

Giichi from Blade of the Immortal.

 

Hiroshi Shirokuma as Giichi.

 

Shira from Blade of the Immortal.

 

Tōru Nara as Shira.

 

Shinriji from Blade of the Immortal.

 

Chikahiro Kobayashi as Shinriji.

 

Souri from Blade of the Immortal.

 

Tomokazu Seki as Souri.

 

Yaobikuni from Blade of the Immortal.

 

And Ako Mayama as Yaobikuni.

 

 

The original Blade of the Immortal manga was serialized in Kodansha's Afternoon seinen manga from 1993 - 2012, and an English language version of the series is published by Dark Horse Comics, who describe the story of Blade of the Immortal as follows:

 

Manji, a ronin warrior of feudal Japan, has been cursed with immortality. To rid himself of this curse and end his life of misery, he must slay one thousand evil men! His quest begins when a young girl seeks his help in taking revenge on her parents' killers . . . and his quest won't end until the blood of a thousand has spilled!

Blade of the Immortal is directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki and features animation production by Liden Films. The series will begin simultaneous worldwide distribution (excluding some areas) exclusively on Amazon Prime Video beginning on October 10, 2019.
