The full cast and character settings have been revealed for LISTENERS, an upcoming original TV anime about a world where music is the only weapon that can save humanity from a mysterious enemy. The story of LISTENERS is set in a world where humanity's way of life is threatened by mysterious lifeforms known as the "Miminashi". The only hope against the Miminashi are heroes known as "Prayers", who can interface with special combat mecha known as "Equipment".

After witnessing an epic battle (known as a "Fes") between the Miminashi and the Prayers 10 years ago in which a Prayer named Jimi became a legend, a young boy named Echo has been longing to meet a Prayer again. Echo lives in a scrap town known as "Revechester", and one day when he's working on excavating the garbage mountain outside of town, he encounters a girl named Myuu ("μ") who is suffering from amnesia. Myuu is also a Prayer, and she has an input jack in her waist.

Together, Echo and Myuu set out on a journey to discover Myuu's origins and to unravel the mysteries of her predecessor, Jimi.

LISTENERS is directed by Hiroaki Ando and features animation production by MAPPA. The series will broadcast in Japan beginning in April of 2020 as part of the Mainchi Broadcasting System / Tokyo Broadcasting System / BS-TBS "animeism" programming block.
