“Spread the charm of Japanese animation all over the world!” by becoming an ‘International Correspondent’
Anime Tourism Association, alongside Crunchyroll Japan and MyAnimeList, are giving people from around the world the opportunity to interview Japanese anime creators at one of the biggest events on the anime industry calendar, AnimeJapan 2020. Anime Tourism are looking for active users of social media to help spread anime right from the show floor through their own social media accounts!
In a press release unveiled on February 7, Anime Tourism Association says they are hoping “that AnimeJapan will gain worldwide recognition and [this opportunity will] help bring more people overseas into the Japanese Animation Industry.” The “International Correspondent” will be given a backstage-like pass to AnimeJapan and have the opportunity of a lifetime to mingle with some of the biggest names in anime.
While confirmation on which exhibitors and creators at AnimeJapan will be available to be interviewed through this endeavor is to come, we know that some people on the shortlist are very exciting! And you won’t need to know any Japanese, a translator will be provided.
Only 120 people will be picked via lottery to become an “International Correspondent” for the event, so be quick in applying for this opportunity. Entries are open from now until March 1, with three rounds starting every Friday. Each person will be given a certificate of appreciation, a limited edition AnimeJapan clear file, and a 1,000 yen coupon for the Anime Tourism Association booth.
Do note that there will be an 8,900 yen (US$81) application fee, which will cover your ticket to the event (both days entry), as well as the use of a special “International Correspondent” room where you can relax away from the hustle and bustle of the convention floor and submit posts to social media. Flights to and from Japan, as well as accommodation, are not included.
This could be you!
All the information can be found on the application’s website including the full details of each day (if you chose to go both days), go check it out and become an “International Correspondent!”
Three lucky Crunchyroll Users will get the chance to have their application fee waived! You just have to click 'Crunchyroll' under the ‘How did you find us’ section to go into the running!
