Life is full of struggle and hardship inside an unhealthy body in an English subtitled trailer released by Aniplex of America for the upcoming TV anime, Cells at Work! CODE BLACK. A spin-off of the Cells at Work! medical comedy manga by Akane Shimizu, the Cells at Work! CODE BLACK manga is written by Shigemitsu Harada and illustrated by Issei Hatsuyoshi, and an English language version of the manga is available from Kodansha Comics.



Aniplex of America describes the story of Cells at Work! CODE BLACK as follows:


A rookie Red Blood Cell has been bustling about, frantically making oxygen deliveries all around the body! But it turns out that his workplace is on the brink of going Code Black!! Drinking, smoking, stress, sleep deprivation… Struggling to survive a life not unlike the brutal corporate world, what must these overworked cells be thinking at the end of the day? This is a tale about the inside of your body…


A key visual for the upcoming Cells at Work! CODE BLACK TV anime featuring the beleaguered cells struggling against external invasion and poor health choices in a body ravaged by infirmity and disease.


Cells at Work! CODE BLACK is directed by Hideyo Yamamoto and features animation production by Liden Films. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan in January of 2021.
