Three-part film based on surfing-themed mixed media project hits Japanese theaters in October of 2020
A new cast member has been revealed for WAVE!! Surfing Yappe!!, an upcoming three-part theatrical anime film based on the surfing-themed mixed media project by LOVE&ART featuring a bunch of handsome young men seeking to catch the perfect wave.
In the film, voice actress Yu Shimamura plays Shouko (pictured above), a young woman who works at the "Fantasy Island" surf shop in Oarai and whom everyone adores.
The story of WAVE!! Surfing Yappe!! is set off the coast of Oarai in Ibaraki Prefecture, where large waves break all year round, making the area an ideal spot for surfing. Local boy Masaki Hinaoka meets a prince-like transfer student who introduces him to the charms of riding the waves, and a story about boys who become obsessed with surfing results.
WAVE!! Surfing Yappe!! is directed by Takaharu Ozaki and features animation producion by Asahi Production. WAVE!! Surfing Yappe!! will receive a limited theatrical screening in 2020 at 13 theatres in Japan (including the Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo) with the first part to be released on October 2nd, the second part to be released on October 16th, and the third part to be released on October 30th.
