Adaptation focusing on the "Napoleon of Crime" continues with 2nd cour in April of 2021
New acquaintances become familiar foes in a newly published trailer for Moriarty the Patriot (known in Japan as Yukoku no Moriarty), an ongoing TV anime based on the manga written by Ryosuke Takeuchi and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi which re-tells the story of some of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous detective characters from the perspective of Sherlock Holmes's arch-enemy.
The original Moriarty the Patriot manga is serialized in Shueisha's Jump Square shonen manga magazine, and an English language adaptation is also available from Viz Media. Funimation describes the story of Moriarty the Patriot as follows:
In the late 19th century, the British Empire nobility reigns while its working class suffers at their hands. Sympathetic to their plight, William James Moriarty wants to topple it all. Frustrated by the systemic inequity, Moriarty strategizes to fix the entire nation. Not even consulting detective Sherlock Holmes can stand in his way. It's time for crime to revolutionize the world!
The Moriarty the Patriot TV anime is directed by Kazuya Nomura and features animation production by Production I.G. The series is currently broadcasting in Japan and is also streaming in the U.S. via Funimation. A splt-cour series, the second cour of Moriarty the Patriot will begin broadcasting in Japan in April of 2021.
