The Mario Kart ride is said to be AR, with goggles worn by each rider as they go through an on-rails ride. The press release says the ride and the surrounding fixtures have been faithfully recreated from the game and housed deep inside Bowser's Castle

The park inside Universal Studios Japan was originally scheduled to open last July but got pushed to Spring 2021 due to COVID-19, but now is opening a little earlier in February.
