Idol Life is Mysterious in The Detective is Already Dead TV Anime Visual

Adaptation based on romantic comedy mystery series hits Japanese TV in July of 2021

The great detective Siesta and her soon-to-be assistant Kimihiko Kimitsuka meet in a seemingly empty commercial airliner in a scene from the upcoming The Detective is Already Dead TV anime.

A new key visual has been published for The Detective is Already Dead (known in Japan as Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru. or "Tanmoshi" for short), an upcoming TV anime based on the romantic comedy / mystery / adventure light novel series written by nigozyu and illustrated by Umibouzu about a young man who tries to return to normal life as a high school student after being the assistant to a global-trotting great detective.

The new key visual (below) shows idol singer Yui Saikawa performing a song and dance routine on-stage while main character Kimihiko Kimitsuka and his classmate Nagisa Natsunagi support her from the sidelines.

The original The Detective is Already Dead light novels are released in Japan by KADOKAWA under their MF Bunko imprint, and an English language version is also in-development from Yen Press, who describe the story of the series as follows:

“You will be my assistant.”
During a plane hijacking four years ago, Kimitsuka Kimihiko wound up becoming the assistant to a beautiful detective named Siesta. The pair traveled the world, solving crimes and battling criminal organizations. Until Siesta died, anyway. Kimitsuka thought that would spell the end of his adventures and a return to ordinary life, but an encounter with a girl who bears an uncanny resemblance to Siesta suggests that fate has other plans.

Yui Saikawa, an idol singer in a frilly red and white Gothic Lolita outfit who is sporting an eyepatch and white and pink highlights in her hair, performs an idol routine on-stage while Kimihiko Kimitsuka and Nagisa Natsunagi support her from the back-stage arena in a new key visual for the upcoming The Detective is Already Dead TV anime.

The Detective is Already Dead TV anime is directed by Manabu Kurihara and features animation production by ENGI. The series is scheduled to broadcast in Japan on AT-X, BS NTV, TOKYO MX, and other stations beginning in July of 2021.
