Hikaru Midorikawa Joins the Cast of SAKUGAN TV Anime

Science fiction series with animation production by SATELIGHT hits Japanese TV in the fall of 2021

Rufus, an average looking man in a blue hooded sweatshirt, offers a winsome smile in a scene from the upcoming SAKUGAN TV anime. Rufus has shaggy black hair and brown eyes, and he appears to be of Asian descent.


A new cast members has been revealed for SAKUGAN, an upcoming science fiction TV anime based on the novel by Nekotarou Inui about intrepid explorers who develop the wilderness outside of human colonies in the far-flung future.


In SAKUGAN, voice actor Hikaru Midorikawa plays Rufus (pictured above), the former partner of Gagumber. Rufus used to travel with Gagumber and Big Tony, and it seems that he was involved in the incident that led to Gagumber giving up being a Marker...



The story of SAKUGAN is described as follows:


One day in the distant future. Humans live shoulder to shoulder in “colonies” separated by rock. Outside the colonies, a dangerous undeveloped area called “the Labyrinth” is expanding. Those who risk their lives to develop “the Labyrinth”, who mark out the undeveloped areas, are known as “Markers”. A young girl, Memempu, who wants to be a Marker one day, and a man, Gagumber, who used to be one. This mismatched father and daughter now take on the Labyrinth! “If there’s no path, dig one!” Adventure Mecha Action presented by SATELIGHT to start airing in autumn 2021!

SAKUGAN is directed by Junichi Wada and features animation production by SATELIGHT. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan during the fall season of 2021.
