Mascots Grin and Bear It in Uramichi Oniisan TV Anime Character PV

Adaptation based on dark comedy manga by Gaku Kuze hits TV Tokyo on July 05, 2021

Fitness instructor Uramichi Oniisan and costumed mascot characters Usao-kun and Kumao-kun entertain a group of children for the Together with Maman TV program in a scene from the upcoming Uramichi Oniisan TV anime.

Hello, all you good little children out there! An unbearably pleasant new character preview video has been revealed for Uramichi Oniisan, an upcoming TV anime based on the dark comedy manga by Gaku Kuze about a young man who keeps accidentally allowing his grim and pessimistic personality to shine through while playing the role of a fitness instructor on a popular children's TV program.

The character PV (below) introduces Mitsuo Kumatani, aka "Kumao-kun", who is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura. Similar to Usao-kun, Kumao-kun is also Uramichi's junior at college. Unlike the high-strung Usao-kun, Kumao-kun has a laidback personality, but he also lacks passion and ambition. His current hobby is fishing, and previously he was interested in Japanese archery.

The Uramichi Oniisan manga is serialized in Ichijinsha's comic POOL digital magazine, and an English language version is also published by Kodansha Comics under the title Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan. Kodansha Comics describes the story of the series as follows:

How did the cynical Uramichi end up hosting a TV show for small children? And how long is the studio going to let him keep teaching the kids the sorrow and exhaustion of life instead of, say, the ABCs?

A new key visual for the upcoming Uramichi Oniisan TV anime, featuring the cast of Maman to Together: costumed mascots Kumao-kun and Usao-kun, hosts Iketeru Oniisan and Utano Oneesan and fitness instructor Uramichi Oniisan.

The Uramichi Oniisan TV anime is directed by Nobuyoshi Nagayama and features animation production by Studio Blanc.. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan on TV Tokyo on July 05, 2021, with additional broadcasts to follow later on BS11, WOWOW, Hokkaido Television Broadcasting, and Animax.
