The 3rd episode is tentatively scheduled for August 8
The real-world sports are getting in the way of the newest Love Live! TV anime series, with a delay "likely" happening due to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, which starts on July 23. To combat this, broadcasting on Love Live! Superstar!! will be suspended in Japan until the games are over, with the official Twitter account for the franchise locking in August 8 for the broadcast of the third episode with the second episode to air at the regular time.
The above tweets singles out the dates July 25 and August 1 for Olympic delays, and August 29 for a possible Paralympic delay. This is occurring because Love Live! Superstar!! is broadcast on NHK-E, one of the two primary NHK channels. Both NHK-E and the NHK General channel will be showing wall-to-wall Olympic coverage for the weeks the games are being held. With the TV schedules for the channels already released, it doesn't seem like there is room for Love Live! during the big games.
It hasn't been confirmed if the delays will also affect the international streaming for the series as of yet.
Takahiko Kyogoku, who worked on the first Love Live! TV anime series returns to the director's chair, with Jukki Hanada writing the scripts at Sunrise. The other Love Live! series Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club currently has a second season in production for a 2022 release.
