Overlord IV was first announced back in May of 2021 along with anime film plans, and original light novel illustrator so-bin celebrated the news with a special visual for the fourth season.



Kugane Maruyama's Overlord series first kicked off with online serialization in 2010, with Enterbrain acquiring it and starting light novel releases in 2012 with so-bin's artwork. Yen Press publishes both the original novels and the manga adaptation by Satoshi Oshio and Hugin Miyama in North America.
