Dies Irae has so much going on that is clearly best left as a VN. Confusing characters, blink-and-you-miss-it scenes in every episode and a very lax explanation of the villains motives and abilities origins. The series is so obfuscated it required an episode 0 to introduce the majority of the main cast.
As far as the cast goes I really think the timing is terrible on this release, the main villains are Nazi war criminals with supernatural powers (literally:

In closing, I would not be shocked if this deterred viewers from funding Kickstarter anime projects in future and while Episodes 12-17 will be released in Febuary as OVA, I can not see it saving this series from fading into obscurity. Sorry Dies Irae fans, hope for another chance down the line.
