Quirky, interesting, give it a go
The title of this review pretty much says all that needs to be said about this anime. It's a very quirky anime, as you would expect of an anime based around a dating-sim Otaku. Said Otaku is Katsuragi Keima, who styles himself a Kami of Dating-sims, accidentally signs a contract with a demon and is designated the human buddy of another demon. Their mission, round up escaped souls from hell who ...

New to PFP: Sign your Soul Away!
    Storyline

This storyline captured my imagination to begin with, but as the series continued I began to see the cracks. So you have to get a girl to fall in love with you to free the lost soul from her heart? Cue a line of stereotypes waiting to be courted. I'm not saying that this is terrible, but a few of the story arcs fell a little flat with me.

My favourite episode was actually a ...

Edited for season 2: Second season improves in every way
The World God Only Knows centres around 'the God of Conquest' Keima Katsuragi, a gaming nerd who plays nothing but dating sims. He says he is only interested in 2D girls that appear in these games. Then he gets an e-mail telling him that there is a girl to conquer. Thinking it's a challenge, he accepts, and gets himself into a deal with the devil. This sends a girl named Elsie (who has a name so ...

An interesting to twist to the harem genre...
    Final Rating: 4.4/5.0

From all my reviews, I always blatantly point out my dissatisfaction of the harem genre but The World God Only Knows is something different and interesting. Rather than just being a harem anime itself, it actually mocks and at the same time celebrates the harem genre, described by our protagonist, Keima Katsuragi, a hardcore bishoujo harem game otaku. Don't make his ...

The World God Only Knows!! - Review
When an anime references the tropes it’s been built on nowadays, nobody bats an eye. The genre of meta comedy is overflowing with attempts at witty commentary and knowing application of ideas seen all too often. With this in mind, the approach The World God Only Knows takes can be considered the logical conclusion of this, as there is something deliciously meta about an anime protagonist chasing ...

Within my top 5 anime ever!
I'm an indie game designer, so most of my life is revolved around video games in some ways. This anime also holds video games in its key focus, and although it does over-exaggerate some of a gamer's personality/quirks, its right on the money and intentionally does blow these out of proportion to criticise on them in a fun and humorous way.

Without sounding pretentious, what I'm trying to say is ...

  • A wonderfully self-aware anime series
As a fan of visual novels and dating sims in general, I was immediately interested by the premise of this show, and was not disappointed.

In The World God Only Knows we have a clever, witty, funny anime that is full of sly nods and winks to those familiar with the visual novel/dating sim medium, but which remains accessible and entertaining to those who have never jumped down that ...

    The balance is perfect
Wakiki has managed to make a series that is amazing. It's not because of the genius nerd lovable main character who everyone can connect with when they are tired of the limitations of the real world, the cute demon sister who is also lovable in a different way and can everyone can connect with when they feel useless or the hot chicks that this nerd gets to date. It's because they are in ...

    It's still going strong
Two finished seasons, a couple of OVA's and you'll know why this series is so good. Even just watching the first episode is enough to keep you hooked. This series puts a slight twist on the whole Harem front in a refreshing way that makes the viewer want to watch more rather than drop the show. Hilarity ensured watching this.

    A great anime to watch
Well, in my opinion "The world god only knows" is an unique anime. It has a harem of girls surrounding the main character (whos known as a dweeb) or a total otaku for sim dating, anyways totally unpopular. That is, before Elsie comes and turns his life into a full love comedy and aiming for real-life girls to make them fall in with him (called a god of making the girls in games fall straight in ...
