Yumi Wakatsuki (Nogizaka46) and Natsume Mito to Star in Tekkonkinkreet Stage Play

Fumiya Matsuzaki (Prince of Stride: The Live Stage) is attached to direct

A stage play adaptation of Taiyo Matsumoto's urban fantasy manga Tekkonkinkreet is scheduled to be performed at The Galaxy Theatre in Tokyo 12 times from November 18 to 25, 2018. 24-year-old idol group Nogizaka46 member Yumi Wakatsuki and 28-year-old fashion model Natsume Mito are cast as its two protagonist boys, Kuro and Shiro.


The manga was serialized for 33 chapters in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits from 1993 to 1994 and compiled in three tankobon volumes. It was adapted into an anime feature film by Studio 4°C in 2006, and the Michael Arias (Harmony)-directed film was highly acclaimed internationally.  


38-year-old Fumiya Matsuzaki serves as director on a script by Masafumi Hata. He worked on Prince of Stride: The Live Stage (2016-2018), the Children of the Whales stage play (2016), and 2.5 Escape Stage Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress (2017), and is also currently attached to the upcoming stage

play adaptation of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 to open in February 2019.
