Shouta Aoi voices one of the main characters, an incarnation of owl
To appeal the concept of "Sacred Place for Anime: Ikebukuro" to anime fans in Japan and abroad, Toshima
Ward in Tokyo and Animate have decided that they will start steaming their three-minute co-production short
anime from January 17, 2019. Watch the trailers bellow.
Acclaimed anime production studio Shaft works on anime production of the "Ikebukuro PR Anime." Yukio
Takatsu, best known as the opening movie director for the studio's Monogatari series, serves as director,
while Reiko Yoshida (K-ON!, Girls und Panzer) provides a script.
The story is told in various places in the Ikebukuro area in 2020, including Hareza Ikebukuro (a new commercial
complex that is scheduled to open at the grounds of the former ward office in the summer of 2020) and
four new parks to open in the area by 2020. Through one girl's grown-up story, the charms of the area,
such as "The town where everyone can be the protagonist," are depicted.
Based on the original story chosen in an open competition, the characters are designed by the Monogatari
series' character designer Akio Watanabe. One of the main characters, an incarnation of owl who guides the
story is voiced by 31-year-old popular voice actor Shouta Aoi (Licht von Grannzreich in The Royal Tutor).
