Rise Up! Animal Road Goes to the Dogs with DDT Pro-Wrestling Promo

Tie-up campaign between wrestling federation and isekai fantasy TV anime goes strange places...

Pro-wrestler HARASHIMA assumes the role of the heroic Kemono Mask for an anime / pro-wrestling tie-up campaign.

The release of Rise Up! Animal Road, a TV anime based on the Kemonomichi isekai fantasy manga written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Mattakumo-suke and Yumeuta, is still a ways away, but that hasn't stopped the series from getting on the pro-wrestling / pet hype train with a bizarre tie-up collaboration with DDT Pro-Wrestling.

The collaboration includes a live-action promo video (above) featuring a shoot-style interview between Kemono Mask (played by pro-wrestler HARASHIMA of DDT Pro-Wrestling) and MAO (played by pro-wrestler MAO of DDT Pro-Wrestling) as they prepare to clash over the world title. The promo was filmed at the "Road to Peter Pan 2019" pro-wrestling event, which was held on June 30, 2019, at the Korakuen Hall venue in Tokyo.

The original Kemonomichi manga is serialized in Kadokawa's Monthly Shōnen Ace manga magazine. The story follows Genzo Shibata (aka Kemono Mask), a pet-loving pro-wrestler who is summoned to a magical world by a princess who charges him with defeating the "demon beasts" that threaten the realm. However, Genzo can't stand the thought of harming any animals, so he hits the princess with a German Suplex, flees, and decides to spend his days peacefully running a monster-themed pet shop instead of adventuring.

Demon beast girl Sigre and former pro-wrestler Genzo Shibata prepare to run a monster-themed pet shop in the Rise Up! Animal Road TV anime.

Rise Up! Animal Road is directed by Kazuya Miura and features animation production by ENGI. The series will broadcast in Japan on Tokyo MX and other stations beginning on October 02, 2019. The series will also stream in Japan on AbemaTV.
