Pikachu Gets Thicc in New Pokémon Sword and Shield Trailer

As well as new forms for Eevee, Butterfree, Charizard, and Meowth were announced

The Official Pokémon Youtube channel on October 16 released a new trailer showcasing new Gigantamax forms for Kanto Pokémon for the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield games on Nintendo Switch, which release worldwide on November 15. Some of these Pokémon are only available through special methods.

The first Pokémon shown off was the classic mascot of the series, Pikachu, who gets a design based on the older generation one games. The new form gains the move G-Max Volt Crash which paralyzes all opponents on the field, gigantamaxed or otherwise. You’ll only be able to get this Pikachu by using play records with a copy of Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu.

Next up was the new secondary mascot of the franchise, Eevee, who gains a more fluffier form. It’s new gigantamax move is G-Max Cuddle, which causing infatuation on any Pokémon of the opposite gender. Like Pikachu, you can only get this Eevee by using play records with a copy of Pokémon: Let’s Go Eevee.

 

Neither Pokémon will be able to evolve in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Fan favourite Charizard was the next Pokémon shown off, given a new firey form surrounded in flames. The new move it gains by gigantamaxing is G-Max Wildfire which starts a Fire Spin as well as doing major damage.

Butterfree was yet another Kanto Pokémon to get a gigantamax form. Its new form spreads out its wings and makes the butterfly Pokémon look even more majestic. Through its transformation, it gains the new move G-Max Befuddle, which does a hefty amount of damage as well as inflicting a status move.

Lastly is Meowth, who becomes Long Cat in its new form. Gigantamax Meowth gains the move G-Max Gold Rush, which scatters coins all over the playing field, to be picked up after the match. This unique Meowth will be available as a download for all players who buy and play the game before January 15. Meowth will also not be able to evolve.

 

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be available on the Nintendo Switch worldwide on November 15.
