TOHO Cinema Ikebukuro opens its doors on July 3 with an Evangelion collaboration
With many new films not opening for a few more weeks due to current circumstances, TOHO Cinemas announced on June 30 that it's opening week will be populated by anime films from Kyoto Animation, starting with the Munto anime film and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya on the cinemas opening day, July 3.
Each day will feature a different film franchise, which are as follows:
Tenjobito to Akutobito Saigo no Tatakai and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
The K-ON! anime film and all the films from the Sound! Euphonium franchise, including Liz and the Blue Bird
All the Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club anime films, including High Speed! Free! Starting Days
The two Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions anime films
The two Beyond the Boundary anime films
A Silent Voice and Tamako Love Story
Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll
TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro is also running an Evangelion 3.0+1.0 collaboration with the upcoming film, which would've been showing in cinemas across Japan had it not been delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. A poster featuring the characters of Evangelion at the famous Owl statue in JR Ikebukuro Station has been released.
