I know right, it's beyond me and I'm normally one to be entertained by simple things.

Near as I can tell, a long long time ago a few users goofed around and were able to make secret posts using "future" numbering. Now that we are at those numbers for real, the old posts are surfacing in the new threads. Our developers have been notified so hopefully a fix isn't too far off.

Since you were lucky enough to have your opening post actually at the top of the thread, I've gone ahead and deleted the bogus posts. Can't guarantee there won't be other glitches, but let's see how it goes.

Oh, it's not (well, except if you count things like Secret Groups). And it wasn't 10 years ago either.

It's a fad like Pogs in the 1990's. Something suddenly gets popular and eventually it dies out.

I got a fidget spinner for free but hardly use it.

they're cool, but as a schoolteacher who is "in the know" of these things, their popularity is already dying out

They were popular for like 5 minutes, but you see them in the clearance bins everywhere now. I have like 5 cause I just like the way they looked when I saw them. I don't use any of them, I don't even know where they are actually either. I just spent the money cause they were in the clearance bin and it was buy 1 get 1 free and they looked cool.

I'm 25, and I have no use for a fidget spinner. I have other ways to occupy my mind like waiting for the world to end or to think about how to kill myself so I don't have to pay these bills, you know, normal adult stuff.

maybe you should use a fidget spinner more if it keeps you from having your normal adult thoughts about killing yourself

Kids enjoy them because they're usually looking for ways to keep themselves stimulated--especially in dull environments like classrooms. It's distracting and good fun.

They are touted to help people with autism and ADHD in order prevent them from being banned in the classroom, but if that's an honest argument (which I doubt) I can think of many better sensory items that are much more helpful and less disruptive.

Fidget spinners are a pretty neat toy, so I won't say their short lived popularity is undeserved. They're interesting to play with for a bit and watch. It'll pass as many other fads often do.

I prefer my fidget cube much more than a spinner, so I never got into them personally. They don't do shit for me compared to other fidget toys which are way better at fulfilling my sensory needs.

I believe it got big because there are so many people that are diagnosed with anxiety, ADHD, ADD, etc, where having a small toy to fidget with would help a lot.
I have generalized anxiety so sometimes I need a good distraction. However, since these have just about exploded that they're everywhere kinda makes me not want to own one for myself.

I just treat them like the Beyblade craze of my generation. The anime played a big part in that craze though... Hmm, probably because spinners look cool to have on you like wearing jeans with chains. Perhaps, it actually is helpful with focusing attention, however, I prefer using the cube for that purpose...
