Well I can speak English, French, Japanese ( my Kanji needs a little work though ) , Cree, and I am currently working on Mandarin . I find languages easy to learn but because of that they tend to bore me. I prefer a challenge and really I am only bothering with a fifth spoken language because I have a desire to travel to China.

English, little Thai/Tagalog.. haven’t decided which to take more seriously or if I should do Japanese or Mandarin. Japanese would be nice since I hate reading subs all the time but I’m not too likely to live or work in Japan so idk.

I'm learning Japanese. Been taking it in college for about three years now and recently (somehow) scored intermediate-mid on an OPI. I'm far from fluent though. I'm hoping to get some experience living abroad for about a semester soon with an internship in order to help my speaking skills.

Finnish - My main language.
English - My secondary language, been speaking 14 years or so and still learning something new every once in a while.
Estonian - Some words, not much.
Japanese - Anime has taught some but i'm planning to study it someday.

That's cool. I'm also using Duolingo to learn Japanese at the moment, and I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. Once I get good enough at Japanese, I'm planning to brush back up on my Spanish, which I haven't studied since my junior year in high school. Languages were always something I really excelled at in school. My Spanish teacher even used to let me sleep through his class, because I picked it up so fast. He'd randomly wake me up at points, ask me a question in Spanish and I'd answer it. Then he'd say 'okay you can go back to sleep now.' I literally aced 3 years of Spanish in my sleep, but it's been so long since I've used it I've forgotten most of it. I still know how to ask where the bathroom is and basic stuff like that, but that's about it.

Yea Duo’s Japanese isn’t bad I’d say. I have it on my phone just to keep things fresh in my head. I really like their french though. I’d learned Spanish in middle school only and never a lick of French but now I have at least a starting handle on it so I’m impressed!

Does Sign Language count?

I am "fluent" in sign Language.

And English.

Of course ASL counts! I’d love to learn that too. I took a class wayyy back in elementary school but all I’ve retained is the ability to spell and like three words from the ABC song *sigh*

Not really sure if the grammar is correct, I was just guessing at it there. I only learned N5 level grammar and about 3000 words and their kanji.

いいよ、私もあまり上手じゃありません。^_^
I studied in university but only ended up taking the N3 test (Our sensei told us we could hit N2 but I knew I wouldn’t study extra to prep lol) I’m hoping to be able to take the other tests at some point but I need a LOT of kanji brush up before that!!

I actually met someone on her who's helping me (and I'm sure there others like me and like her, just haven't found them or connected with them) (hit me up if you want to learn/talk; it may take me a while because Japanese is hard and I have school)

I also speak fleunt sarcasm.

I'm also trying to learn some coding. Javascript and eventually ... everything else

It’s tough to learn on your own! I find myself not doing as much when I don’t have tests to motivate me haha
I’d be glad to chat and help you learn though! More practice is always welcome!
Ooh and I took Java in school at one point too! (Back when the AP Java test was still all on paper which makes little to no sense) I guess coding just makes sense to people who like languages huh?

Not sure if applies for you but i can write program codes with (Borland Delphi) <<< is old but it does count lol
And trying to get Japanese but damn is hard way to write and read, can understand a lot of words and speak as well but reading and writing ohhh boy there is a dilemma

Ughhh I knowwwwww. Kanji I feel like I’ve known for ages STILL disappear on me all the time. Neverending struggle! I feel like if I can manage to read more books in Japanese I'll be able to beat the kanji into my head but it's a struggle to get started. -o-

Whew! That was the longest post (in two parts ha) I’ve ever written lol
Clearly I need to check my Crunchy account more often (or talk less >.<)

If anyone ever wants another language buddy feel free to hit me up ^_-

Sounds great, I'll probably post/message with some stuff, though all of that takes second place to school, which I am currently behind on.
How much do you know?

And javascript != java, apparently. I still don't understand exactly how their different, but a lot of coding is similar, it seems.

And dear god no. Coding is logic and loops and math. From what I can talk about (Mechanical, coding is an extra useful thing), it's about breaking down the task into it's most basic parts, and then breaking it down further because you didn't break it down far enough to start.
A lot of it is also syntax; what can I do with this language helps guide the logic.

Ha well school should always come first (even when it feels like its sucking out your soullll)

How much Japanese? Well I majored in it in university so a decent amount but the kanji slips away very easily so my reading skill has definitely declined.

Didn't know that about javascript so good to know. I'd like to learn some more coding but it's not a high priority for me at the moment so i dunno if I ever will.

Awww see I like logic and math too (proofs are my favorite!!) so I always figured the puzzle-y aspects of language and math were what appealed to me. Have you ever looked into linguistics? Phonology isn't too fun imo but morphology is all about breaking down words and sentences into their components and then looking at how they all relate to one another. Reminds me a bit of coding from the little I learned~

LOL Yea at least I can keep my speaking knowledge up from anime but even looking back at past papers I've written in Japanese I'm like T-T I can't even read this anymore and I wrote it *sighhhh*

I had a friend during study abroad who would actually dumb down his Japanese to get girls to help him with it. Ah the uses of knowing a foreign language~ haha

If you want, I started with HTML and CSS. They're not really coding, but they are used in web development.
I learned from the Free Code Camp, which is why I bring it up now.

As for anything else, suppodely there's lots of stuff online. I'm actually going to be looking for stuff this weekend and I'll drop anything promising I find.

And proofs are ok but also suck. Are we talking high-level, formal proof or off to the side proving to myself that something makes sense?

And never done linguistics and don't really want to. Just not my cup of tea.
