So I've grown up with the long running anime in my childhood (YYH, Naruto, Bleach, etc), and I've have seen a good deal of good anime that have come out in recent years (HxH, JJBA, Parasyte, FMAB, etc). Right now, I've been going through Fairy Tail for 2 reasons. One is because I wanted something to take a while to get through so I could let MHA and Boruto mount up episodes I haven't seen. The other is that it still sits really popular on here and I can be a lil basic with some good shounen (MHA <3). Now though, I'm not really sure if it's worth continuing or not.

I put a fair amount of time in for FT though don't get me wrong. Episode 73 was the last one I finished, but this show hasn't really made much of a "change." I mean sure, Natsu and Lucy are getting stronger as time goes on, but every other aspect seems pretty meh. I'm fine with a slower development of characters and the like since it's a long show but it
feels too little of a change even for that.

My biggest issues with FT are the lack of long term or permanent consequences and the overly strong "power of friendship." People are getting ragdolled by these ridiculous attacks and the antagonists says without fail, "Oh? You survived that, huh?" Characters are acting like they are about to die just to get up panting hard the next episode. I'm fine with that happening somewhat, but this happens like every 13ish episode season. The power of friendship is killing me too as it happens probably more than the "coming back from the supposed dead."

I was just going to try and gut it out, but there's no point to doing that if it doesn't get any better. I heard spoiler stuff about Natsu's legit origin that made me want to watch in the first place, but the road there is a long and arduous lol. I want opinions on if it will get better or not. If not, I can go watch some decent seasonal anime, make myself a lil trashier by actually watching Eromanga Sensei, and then get back to stuff that interests me.

Those of us who love ft are in it for the feels. I can't believe u had all these problems with ft when bleach did these aspects way worse.

I'd say quit. Ft is all about the feels, and not at all about huge power gains.

Dude, I've seen a good bit of anime, and Fairy Tail's "feels" are pretty basic, no offense. Bleach I watched for the fun of it, so iffy power creep didn't matter too much. Fairy Tail arcs follow nearly the exact same pattern every time which was killing it for me. Bleach was nowhere near as bad as FT on the power of friendship, overly repetitive arcs (even though some sucked), or non-existent stakes. I wasn't expecting a HxH or JJBA out of FT, just something decent to watch.

If ft's feels are basic, can u recommend me some animes with the same feels besides one piece? I've been looking for an anime like ft!

And well, bleach had maybe more than 30 episodes total where Ichigo would fight one hollow. . . And that would be the whole ep, without any addition to the plot or anything. Ft never did that. Almost every ep contributed to the plot, except for that juvia love potion episode, but there's only like 2 of those or at best 4.

What I mean by basic is that it's something that any anime has done to that level when it comes to emotional moments. From the 73 episodes I saw, I'd say Naruto has more 'complete' feels than FT. Friendship is the main theme of both anime to me at least, and Naruto has more meaningful exchanges relating to friendship (look at Naruto and Gaara's relationship). Fate/Zero, HxH, Angel Beats, Clannad After Story all have feels in them, but so do many other anime.

Yeaah, when you start comparing things to Key animes and stuff on the level of anohana. . . Most things get blown out of the water. But hxh, that really didn't have too many feels. Just kilua and gon being close friends. But the arc with kilua and his Uber locked up sibling at the end is def on an ft/key level.

Well I mean FT is a really big anime. To the point where it's essentially an added member to the Big 3. HxH didn't have many feels? Bro, did you not watch the Chimera Ant Arc. The gamer girl Komugi made Mereum completely 180. Their relationship was unique, made stupid levels of character development, and their deaths were not exactly heartbreaking, but still emotional.
Like HxH may not exactly get you crying, but it plots drives some emotional parts in the story.

I too do appreciate some feels, but I did not hit a feel's worthy moment in FT yet. An unfortunate backstory does not instantly translate to feels. The only flashback I would say warrants feels is the situation with that one beast-transformation guy killing his little sister. That actually is a pretty heavy situation. Other than that, I saw nothing else yet to warrant feels fam.

You're right I totally forgot about the king ant and the girl dying together. And yeah, kite x gon just didn't touch my heart.

But hxh was more repetitive than ft? It was just one back to back tourney. Idk. The York new city arc was the best arc because it was different and had mafia-esque.

Ft's feels are more like, less intellectual more passionate.

Ft isn't about super intricate plots (although some are really good) or insane complex battles. It's a slice of life magic fantasy that ties all the characters together via their shared pasts. I admit it copies one piece heavily, but Imho it outdoes one piece.

Finish what you have started, even if it may take time, I believe it's a good thing to finish what one has started.

No. In that aspect it just gets worse and worse and then someone manages to top that. Go watch watch My Hero Academia instead. Or Blue Exorcist, Soul Eater, Seven Deadly Sins, Hajime no Ippo, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (2012), D- Gray Man, Noragami. There are a plenty of better uses of your time and even plenty of way better Shounen.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure very nearly became my favorite anime (HxH is all I personally have over it). My Hero Academia is essentially a shounen boner and I love it too lol. I think I'll check out Hajime no Ippo since I've never really watched a sport anime, and I'll watch your other suggestions that I haven't seen. Thanks!

Also Psyren and Shaman King are cool Shounens but they don't have a anime adaptations.
