I think threats are inappropriate. That being said, versus a relatively obscure figure, Trump is well known, so it may be expected that only do many people want to kill him, but many more people will say it, versus an Ex-girlfriend who is personally involved with the suspected target. That being said, I have to understand the credibility and intention.

This perhaps is more practical in a legal sense than right in a moral sense, essentially.

Yyyyeah, think you're right on that one.
And with the "I'm not crazy!" emphases in the post, put me in for a few bucks on Amyas' "Dead in prison" pool.

It's the narcissistic ones that always snap when the curtain comes down.

Nuisance or poet I'm still yet to judge ye but I didn't hear particularly good things about him a year ago or so. I didn't even know that he was on bail.

Yeah these things are always hard. The line of joke vs. real is blurred. I think it would of been legally fine if he had made the 'threat' while not on bail.

Thoughts?

Well, that depends on what states Voodoo is still illegal in.

I have never threatened a cricket in my life. Not Jiminy, not Chester, not Buddy Holly's band, and certainly not "Beat Bugs"'s Crick.

Meh, he's a douche. Whatever it takes to put him in jail is fine with me.

Threat wise, it is not quite a threat, but more of incitement. Seeing as he can easily fund such a large reward. Intent may not matter here, it seems, but the wording of the issued post. His personality is not the greatest or more rational either. This being the internet, there are quite a few mentally unstable and idiotic individuals.

In such a case, I am not sure of what should be the prescribed punishment, if any. Speaking of which, I believe Jimmy Carter was at the local Costco last year, and security was more lax than you'd expect, as per a book signing would be.

I am calling bullshit on that
Show proof that thousands of people have threaten to kill the president
and internet trolls don't count

See Amyas's post. Not to mention all of the teachers saying kill trump, rappers making assassination music videos, and celebrities beheading him.

Internet trolls still count. A threat is a threat. Its hard to know how real it is as the most minor of things have turned into blood thirsty rampages from online posts. Its only a troll till they go out and do it then you cry "how could we have missemissed this".

So why isn't Ted Nugent or the thousand of racist dumb fucks who threaten to kill Obama not in Prison

There is a difference between saying someone should kill him or i will kill him jokingly or seriously with no actual belief behind it and OFFERING MONEY for someone to ASSAULT someone (as this is what it would have come up in court as likely).

Threats are just words the moment any of them put money behind their threats it becomes a different story they are inciting criminal activity then.

You might argue saying someone should murder trump is inciting criminal activity but honestly something so little isn't enough if it was we would jail anyone who says " i will kill you" in anger or threatens to send someone after you but we don't and for good reason.

End of the day there is a reason this was just over the line honestly if it were not for his past exploits he probably would of been let off but they had the power to punish him and i'm certain there was some bias in that decision to actually go ahead and punish him.

This being said it is a crime either way but it's something that's on a case by case basis when police get to it sort of thing those people calling for murder aren't arrested.

it's more or less the point that they can tell the jokes and people riding on it from the fakes and putting everyone in jail for it would not solve much from my understanding

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threatening_the_President_of_the_United_States

5 years in prison and 250k fine maximum (which is stupid since they wouldn't do that for any other normal person the president of a country shouldn't get that much power imo but that aside).

You have the police and those in charge who in the end decide what they will charge and not and with so many people they need to weed through it all.
