According to this site http://www.freespeechweek.org/ Free Speech Week is on October 16-22 but i heard it's September 24-27 instead?

Ben Shapiro LIVE at UC Berkeley (Lecture starts at 29:08)

I didn't know about Ben Shapiro until now. It looks like people like him will be coming to Berkeley to speak though out the whole week. I would like to see Dinesh D'Souza at Berkely as well.

"no mask" law worked well from the look of it. The same law is coming out in Arizona along with 6 months in jail for violent riots . No income + being in jail for 6 months? it's something not many will be willing to risk just for some thrills

I don't care for either of them so I probably won't watch. Also, Free Speech Week? They couldn't come up with a better name?

Every day is Free Speech Day, so I don't know what you're talking about or why anyone would need a particular week.

With the belief that speech = violence spreading, its good to have a reminder of the freedoms we enjoy for those that are clueless to reality.

I've not even heard of this yet so its new to me. Kind of odd its not been posted in reddit.com/r/the_donald yet. Typically anything like this that is legit gets a lot of attention.

This is due to the fact that is backed/supported by The Media Institute.
Many Trump supporters I know from r/The_Donald or in person are still "Anti-Koch Brothers" because they're against billionaires controlling the government.
"The Media Institute" has had some shady dealings with lobbyists, which has been the excuse as to why they feel there's no merit behind this "Free Speech Week".

On the other hand, there shouldn't be any genuine requirement behind celebrating one's Freedom of Speech.
What I mean is that one is not required to donate to The Media Institute or their partners in order to celebrate the week that this is being "sanctioned" by "FreeSpeechWeek.org".
Fire off a few rounds, drink a few craft beers, and sit in your backyard doing whatever you feel like doing.

in all honesty this has got to be the worst "week" event yet. since free speech is a law in the states, to have one regarding a "week" to be honest I can only see how horrible this is going to turn into. baskets vs safe zone, fight! I wonder if this will be just one more poor excuse to be violent.

Remember the whole Charlottesville "alt-right" protest? No one had heard of it either till the day before and it wasn't on any of the libertarian or trump circles. Normally such events are all over the place and when they aren't its kind of strange. The Charlottesville protest was pretty much a trap and some people rushed there to show up but then got trapped with a bunch of NAZI and put into a warzone.

So when an event is going on and no one is talking about it we are suspicious that its another trap, there have been a few traps set.

There are more people going to Berkeley like

David Horowitz Returns to Berkeley
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCxwq5_Lp4U

There's a reason why they are going to Berkeley

http://fsm.berkeley.edu/free-speech-movement-timeline/

Personally? If Hillary can go around exercising her free speech i don't see why not for these people, despite how much i hate the crooked hag, it's her right. You don't see groups of people trying to shut her by disrupting her events ....

People are being triggered over a sign like this grown man

I guess he can't win the verbal argument so he's getting into his defensive mode by saying " I'm defending myself" over and over

Ahahaha that [person's] blood started to boil and all he could muster up was "I'm defending myself " as a preemptive insurance to protect himself if things got violent. Yet he was the dumb fuck raising the level of hostility. If you go looking for trouble don't hide behind "I'm defending myself" when trouble finds you.

Sept. 17, 2017
The University of California estimates it cost $600,000 to keep order last week when a conservative commentator made an appearance on its flagship Berkeley campus.

No wonder university is so expensive. How much will free speech week cost in monetary terms? And why does free speech need a caveat?

Might want to rephrase that to be less offensive. Leftists will report your post to try and get you banned even if you didn't insult them directly. They focus on silencing us and baiting us into getting g banned.

I've noticed these kinds of "trap protests" coming from both sides of the aisle.
Charlottesville was one of them for the right (trap them, have a few white supremacists and KKK members in there to create the distinction).
Some of the rallies/protests that ANTIFA arrived at were the same for the leftists trying to be casual with their protests (only for war to break out).
Regarding "Free Speech Week", the organization that was their originating/founding partner is heavily funded by the Koch Brothers, which has caused some people to be put off from it.
It does not help that there are rallies at heavy left locations as if they were inviting trouble.

I would rephrase this a tad.
When responding, just respond with tact.
If one is tactful in their engagements, it doesn't warrant a ban or otherwise as long as it's sensible and mature.
Some of the heavy-right and heavy-left have been banned for responding in such a classless way that it doesn't warrant intellectual conversation on the matter (or even contribute whatsoever).
A good example of this was the comments made by another user regarding Melania Trump and a billboard; except, he hasn't been banned (as nobody had reported it).

Sensibility, common sense, and tact are the only things required to post on a public forum.
Responding in such a tasteless, classless way just shows there's nothing of value in your comments and that you're simply responding based on your personal bias or desire to troll.
