I think I've cut myself shaving all of maybe two or three times in my life. Don't use a dull blade and don't let the razor slip sideways, problem solved.

I have cut my throat while shaving, but never my upper lip/face.

Throat cuts hurt like a B****!

Only about two or three times in the last 13 years, unless you meant like, the lip lip part and not the skin between the nose and lips, then never.

0 times. I shave my whole face and head though and have been doing it for years so I'm pretty handy with a razor.

Don't worry about these people saying they don't cut their lip. Speaking as someone who cannot use electric razors because my individual hairs pretty much don't fit through the gaps they need to to be cut, there are different thickness of facial hair and different strengths of skin. Just remember, you don't cut your lip or other parts of the skin from cutting hair (scraping the razor along the skin). You cut it when you move the razor side to side, in a "slashing" motion. Try to control that and you will cut less.

you might want to stop where the hair stops but seriously by your age I assume you are pretty new at shaving shave often for practice, don't try to sharpen your razors to save money buy good blades that work for your skin at first as kevz says it can make a difference, take your time and don't apply too much foam also soaking your face before hand with hot water might help everyone gets a cut from time to time for me it was my jaw, chin and throat.

I cut myself a bunch when I was younger. Not so much now. As you get older your skin will become less sensitive and you get better in the art of shaving. I need to invest in a really good electric razor. I'm sick of buying razor blades all the time.

Trying to get better with a straight razor

I've done it a couple times, but I rarely ever do.

like if I was using the stupid hand razors, I never do, but they got boring. Straight Razors are the better shave, the smoothest results.

Even with disposable razors, cutting yourself while shaving is really hard to do once you have been doing it a while. When I was younger, the only part I cut was my chin and only because I was new and was using a dull razor.
