Anime because the intros and soundtracks. But I like reading manga because I can go at my own pace and imagine the colors and voices to fit my preferences.

I've seen far more anime than I've ever read manga but I do like to have the ability to compare a manga to the anime based on it and vice versa.

I'll go with anime because I just simply haven't got the time to go through manga especially when there may be filler periods.

Usually anime, but there are exceptions.

The Claymore manga is one of my favorite manga, and I like it much better than the anime (which covered less than half of the manga). Arpeggio of Blue Steel as well. The anime for Ah! My Goddess, 3X3 Eyes and GunNM/Battle Angel are nothing compared to the manga in volume. There are some manga series that I like that never made it to anime form.

For Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura, I love BOTH the anime and the manga. Don't make me choose between them.

I prefer manga by a wide margin, just like I prefer books and reading in general to watching movies, but anime (and movies) has its own charms, so I enjoy it as well. I have my favorite voice actors, and I've been exposed to a lot of good music thanks to anime. Bottom line: I consume a staggering amount of both.

They are quite different mediums and as such have different strengths and weaknesses. Pacing, timing and spacial awareness are all quite different when you compare the two experiences. It's for this reason that sometimes a joke or or a scare that works well on the written page simply does not work when translated into animation and vice versa. An example would be a character getting struck so hard they get knocked out of the panel or Junji Ito's masterful use of the page turn for a scare in his horror manga.

Since manga engages the imagination of the reader the experience is also a more personal one in that your own mind is filling in the voices, sounds and other details. I am not saying manga is better, just different.

Anime certainly can add a lot more visceral punch to a scene from a manga if it is done properly since it engages more of our senses, but it requires a very talented director and team of artists that really understand the source material. A poorly done adaption can absolutely ruin a good manga, but a masterfully crafted one can elevate the source material to a new level. Look at the infamous episode 9 of Made in Abyss for an example of just how much intensity can be added to scene with properly directed sound and animation.

I personally think manga shines best as a medium when the works are more literary or abstract in nature and anime shines in more action intensive stories where the sense of motion and spacial orientation would be harder convey with static images.

It depends... I liked the InuYasha manga more then InuYasha: The Final act, but found the RIN-NE anime to be boring but the manga was exciting to me.

both, but I'm more into animation than comics, I have some past issues which back this theory up. but it's sort of interesting, watching something first and then reading, it's like you can almost hear the intro/ending with the comics.

I really like both and I don't think I could choose between the two.

Anime is more animated and hype, and sometimes gets me more excited in dynamic scenes than manga would on paper. But, I find anime is sometimes less detailed than manga would be, so in that element, I would prefer manga. The two compliment each other and make up for one another's weaknesses and vice versa.
