The first episode is now up: http://www.crunchyroll.com/twocar/episode-1-exhibition-749807

Episode 1

And right off the bat, there's a race with the competitors introduced. While the race is happening, it cuts between the race and the story of Yuri and Megumi, and how those two became partners with potential. They have been coached by a superstar in the sport, but he's off to England leaving the girls by themselves as he taught everything there is to learn. In the race, those two are falling way behind everybody, and then they catch up on the final lap and overtake everybody to win the race. As it turns out, that was just an exhibition and it ends with a double KO. The concept is interesting to say the least, but I just wasn't on board with the way the story was told in the first episode, doing it while a race is going on. It just might be the opening episode jitters, but nevertheless the approach didn't do any service to it.

I had never heard of sidecar racing before seeing this anime pop-up a few months ago and was immediately intrigued. Something of a tall order for an anime to introduce and provide at least the basics of a sport probably most have never heard of while also introducing the main characters and important side characters in 24 minutes. All in all I think they did a good job balancing everything and while I do admit I was thrown off by the first flashback once I realized what they were doing I think it worked well enough.

Now that we've gotten the introduction out of the way I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes and learning more about sidecar racing.

Episode 1

For the first episode we have a exhibition match and they introduce everyone competing. We even get a small flash back on our main girls and they happen to live next to each other. It's also explains that the island they live on has no speed limit so people move there so they can race. In flashbacks we see them get trained by their coach and that the two were in love with him. The results of the race ends with them winning and instead of celebrating they punch each other.

Episode 1

So, my problem with most Silver Link shows is that they look very pretty and pleasing to look at, but they're boring.

Two-Car looks fine and the character designs are appealing, buuut there's just something about how they come off and how the narrative is portrayed that just makes me yawn.

Hope they spend more time on the other characters as well since they have some nice designs.

Not really too sure on this one yet. It was fine but nothing really special feeling and I fear that the extended cast won't get any real development given that they've already been introduced as nothing but blatant cliches. The main pairing is fine, I suppose, but I was hoping for at least something of a yuri connection there. Instead, their issues seem to rely upon them both falling for their coach so that was a bit of a wash out. We'll have to see where this one goes moving forward but right now that is feeling like a possible drop to me.

On the up side, Wada-sensei is cute so the show at least has that going for it.

I picked this one up at random. I usually don't finish all the anime I start in a season. We'll see how this one pans out.

Personally I thought that was brilliant.

Really good and solid animation. Decent on-track action too, but the constant cut-aways actually made me want to see more of the race itself, but I enjoyed how they took the time to interpose the race with the main team's background.

I thought it was funny how they kept the coach's face and identity hidden like the Stig the whole time.

I hope they go into more background on all the teams, but this is clearly Yuri and Megumi's show and is about them and their challenges.

The ED is one of my favorites of the season so far as well.

I am a big motorsports fan. I watch F1, Indycar, NHRA, IHRA, NASCAR, Motogp, and a few other smaller series and sports.

I actually enjoy sidecar racing as well. I lived in England for a year and it's pretty popular over there as well as France and Germany. I was thinking about that the whole time. Then the coach mentioned wanting to move to England for the Isle of Man TT.

Anyways, that was a really good solid start to a new show. I know it won't be for everyone, but I will eat stuff like this up.

It kind of feels like this show was written for me.

I still wish someone would make a good, solid F1 based anime.

I wondered what the second person would do in this besides just sit in the sidecar and ride along.

Now I know.

My father used to do motorcycle racing when I was younger. He raced at Daytona, Atlanta and Talledega back in in the 1970's... he never really won any races or awards, but did it more for the fun than anything else. At least, until he ended up in the hospital from a crash at Road Atlanta one day...

So I do appreciate the series and the efforts they're making at not only providing a good story about the gals, but about the racing itself.

They don't call it the "sui"-side car for nothing...

I kept thinking, "Ah, he must be the Stig's brother or cousin or something but prefers motorcycles to cars."

I looked up the Isle of Man TT and that is some super serious racing. It's considered one of the deadliest.
