Question
Whats a Beggy? I know what a Sleigh is but whats a Beggy? All I got was an Urban dictionary link but I doubt thats it. Or is it just a made up word for the show.

This gets explained in the show.

Yeah, I got what she is. But I thought maybe the words they used, seeing as one is real, might be discriptive of some sort. So its they are just using made up words to to use in place of the discription. Got it.

Might be something Gaelic or the like. Based on the rest of the manga, the author probably got the term from somewhere.

Then why is she in chains (and naked)? Magic or not a human being in chains getting sold to be owned by another is a slave.

Well, doesnt matter if shes human or not, it would still be slavery. Sure, not arguing shes a slave to our sense. But from the view of the auction house, shes just another magical object/creature. Shes in chains as a way to contain and control her, just like the rest of the magical beasts. She is a rare specimine in the world of magic, to be bought at others leisure since she was willing to sell herself as such.

Im sure the 'hundreds' were there because the AH advertised. "Sleigh Beggy on sale this weekend!" Whos to say all the buyers were human as well, Elias doesnt look very human himself exactly lol.

I did find it amusing someone so rare as her and seemingly obvious to the magic community as what she is, was never captured or hunted down by anything. Seems they left her alone to live her life as she willed, untill she wanted to be bought.

According to this guy on Stack Exchange, it's from the Manx language (Sleih Beggey) so "sleigh beggy" seems to be not quite a correct rendering in English either.

Huh. I wonder if this wouldnt of been better served by just typing out the Romanji for it and using a Bracket () to say 'Beloved Child of the Night' and leaving the words as is.

Episode 2

Here, more of the cast gets introduced as the two see Angelica, who explains a lot of the stuff going on, her daughter Althea, her spirit Hugo, and Simon who was waiting for Elias back at home. Chise goes to town with Elias on what ends up being an errand where they meet Angelica. Elias ought to learn his lesson there about how to handle a girl in the bath as he got punched for what he did. While his mouth wouldn't say that Chise is a Sleigh Beggy, the truth doesn't stay hidden for long with the way the crystal reacted creating a whole garden of crystal flowers. Much more lighthearted than last time here, which works very nicely. Now it's off to Iceland where things are going to get really emotional.

Still not sure about the art shift with the comedic scene but it save them on the buget for great stuff like that ending!

That cliffhanger ending seemed extremely rushed to me. There was no real build up or progression, it was just "Hey, we're in Iceland. Hey, dragons. Hey, Chise kidnapped by dragon" all in the space of maybe a minute of screen time. Other than that, Chise is definitely continuing her development as an extremely likable and believable character. She doesn't speak much but her dialogue is always near pitch perfect. Great stuff. Still not sold on the creepy power imbalanced relationship though, and I don't see myself ever being able to get over that.

Well glad they introduced a character that's reasonable and agrees with me that Elias buying and wanting to marry Chise is creepy. And kidnapped by a dragon in Iceland, yeesh already worst honeymoon ever.

Sad part is, it was like that in the manga too. My only complaint about the pacing really, considering the pacing through the rest of it is fine.

Second episode did pretty well with adapting the majority of the chapter, and it looks like the episodes may go by chapter. Only thing I'm sad about is

still attracted to the artwork, that alone is worth watching. however the toss in comedy from time to time is giggle moment worthy that's for sure. love the details to the dragons, can't wait for the third episode and where the story is going, is there going to be a rival for the apprentice? for some odd reason I find Silky adorable

Animation and style still keeping up to par phenomenally OST is so beyond chill, namely the one that plays at the start of the Forrest scene, I could listen to it on loop for hours.

Very fond how how they differentiate between sorcery and magic which also gives cause to why magic is more high risk high reward. Also final note her affinity to magic creatures is great as it just gives the incentives for random creatures to cling to her haha.
