I thought this was an incredible first episode. The amount of world building it got done as well as introducing the various different factions of characters and possible motives was just amazing. And it didn't even feel rushed or in any way an unnatural progression of the storyline. The story itself seems fascinating, and I can't wait for more.

Episode 1

My-god, this show is gorgeous.

A few character responses and some of the narrative bugs me a bit, but man this show is aesthetically pleasing. I'm really digging the concept too and how it has this fantasy atmosphere going for it.

Just watched this and it instantly went to the top of my list this season, which is saying a lot since we have some pretty great titles. Those visuals really give a Studio Ghibli vibe (Laputa). The show also reminds me of OZMA and Now & Then, Here and There, although I certainly hope it's not that dark. Anyway, great first episode.

Wow. I just checked this out and it is absolutely gorgeous.

I feel it is going to be quite the emotional show. What a blessing and a curse to have. I am assuming that many of these people have children and families as teenagers if most don't live past their 30's?

This should be quite interesting.

Either that or they've got a lot of orphans.

Episode 1

And so with a chance encounter, Chakuro becomes caught up in something big by bringing Lykos over. These children have powers, but at the price of being sent to an early grave. Pretty interesting start to this as the visuals are great, and it ought to be an emotional ride. That said, I probably will wait until it comes out on Netflix, but I'll continue for another episode at the very least seeing that something big is about to go down.

I finally got around to watching the first episode of this last night, and man that was amazing. I feel like this will fill the abyss in my heart now that the Show of last Season is done. I love stories with interesting worlds, so I am really excited for now.

Anyone else getting The Giver vibes after ep 2? big fan of the memories and emotion angle...and the art style compliments the atmosphere so much...like a moving art piece.

Shesh the end....pretty stunned.

Watch this show.

For everyone who complains about everything being copy and paste, generic, same old same old, or whines about there not being any new good anime out there any more. Watch this show.

Seriously.

So much mystery! Lykos (well what else should we call her?) is obviously a great deal more capable of feeling emotions than she thought, and perhaps than the elders thought too. Which begs the question is this because she is unique in some way or simply because she is the first to be given the chance? That the effect of the Lykos creature wears off with distance and time, coupled being treated with kindness and basic human decency will make anyone wake up from an emotional numb state. Did not like that Oni (?) guy who just seemed to be a rebel without a cause.

If I have one point of criticism for this episode, it is the very end. Nobody saw that massive ship sail up until it was right along side of them? And it seemed to arrive there pretty instantaneously. I mean one moment it was some way out, next moment they were about to be boarded. Perhaps the ship moves really fast, but not to have any sort of alarms going off (like last episode when that other island was sighted) just didn't seem right storywise.
