And so there are two genders on earth, why two? Why not three? What exactly is a male and what exactly is a female?

The key difference, only the female can reproduce offspring. And throughout evolution, there is never a third gender, strange isn't it?

Why 2 genders?

DNA has only 2 strands, 1 stand from the male and 1 from the female is all that is needed to create new life.

There is no 3rd gender in nature because it is simply not needed.

Because it's the simplest solution that solves the problem (ie genetic diversity)

I don't think that's how it works.

The male and female each contribute a chromosome set. Each chromosome contributed is already composed of two strands.

What would be the purpose of third gender? They would die out if they serve no purpose for the species.

Cause females have breats and the female set of body parts down there, and males only have "that".

This is like asking why does earth only have one moon. It is so because that's how shit shook out in our neck of the woods.

Because life is confusing enough without people wanting to shift back and forth like a frog.

There's not only two genders. Gender male/female is the most common from a large species standpoint, but billions of creatures reproduce asexually all the time. Some bugs can reproduce both asexually and sexually in the same year. Many organisms, notably many plants, possess both "male" and "female" reproductive organs or can change to suit their circumstances.

Think about it this way

Was there ever a need for a third gender? Would having a third gender provide some kind of advantage to survival and fitness?
