I don't know where I should post this and I didn't want to mess with the main anime forums but I do feel like I need advice. Is it just me or are all the animes from the past 3- years just been filled to the brim with absolute trash ! It's the single year out of any that I'm watching the least amount of anime shows. So many I just don't care about. I'm not a anime reviewer so I'm not that bored by tropes or all that. Im reluctant to go on crunchyroll to watch the few anime's I like.

Tons of romance anime's that are rinse repeat and boring, imouto's I think its called little sister obsessed anime's, low effort or low budget CGI anime's, second seasons to anime's nobody asked for, more ova's than ever before, slice of life thats boring.
I keep constantly hearing about anime crash coming soon and I starting to believe it.
Anime seems to be everywhere now, amazon, Netflix, and now Twitch is promoting. Maybe because of that I feel a bit overwhelmed or something?
What I'm trying to say is that I feel that most of animes out right now I just don't care to watch. Sure I'm hyped for Black Clover, Overlord movies, Gundams, DBZ, Boruto, My Hero Academia, i'm even back into One Piece etc. But are their too many romance and low effort animes out now? Maybe? I haven't seen Ancient Magus Bride, no motivation maybe I should? I hear its great?
I used to watch all types from magical girls to comedy and sports but I hate them now. I especially can't stand anything to do with School Setting animes, it's never going away so i'm screwed. I'm officially burned out by that setting. I'm burned out by school settings animes, slice of life, boring romance, and sports.

What do I do? I hate all the anime that are out right now except a few and don't feel like watching the ones that are claimed to be popular. My worst year so far.

You aren't alone, after a year and a half I've become somewhat jaded as well. I'd say around 75% of anime currently airing now is complete and utter trash, and not worth watching. Most of the anime over the past few years has also been complete crap, but that's how to win in the industry, creative and talented people aren't rewarded.

As for what you should do, you shouldn't do anything, ignore the trash and focus on the good anime

no no my friend, you are learning, you are slowly learning the truth.

What they want from you and your time. Only the few will realize this You are just a potential subscriber or buyer, they don't care about you. they make money from you if and when. If something was small and growing they would shower you with affection and praise until they grow so immense that they shrug you off without a care knowing you will still buy something, and taking your appreciation like a grain of salt among the millions.

Sad but true.

They are focused on profit, not our appreciation. That is a dangerous move to put on people, and just like anything. It will be too late to realize that abusing people and their time will prove to be the last.

But it will continue, and the people will buy into it without any consideration.

I enjoy what anime has done for me, but that was years ago. I consider what I can do for anime now as any creative mind should follow. Stop hoping for something good; make it so.

Why do I think this........ I know my head hasn't been straight for a while now, something needs to be said or done to make it go away.

I think you just stop watching anime.

I mean, there's not much more to say than that. Clearly the anime that makes up the majority of what's out there is not appealing to you at all and you state that the few shows you do enjoy are made bad by the company they keep. So stop wasting your time.

I'm just going to look back into the past and watch older Anime's that I haven't got around to yet. Thank's for the advice everyone except Strider, I'm pretty sure I've seen you around before and we butt heads before. But o.k. I guess it's not just me.

Dude, burnout is the right word. And yeah the majority of shows aren't award winning, they never were. What kind of a magical place would TV be if every show was awesome and lasted 10+ years? And where would there be space for the new ones?

Take a break. You might also have other stuff going on so watching every show a season isn't a priority for you like it was in the past.

What advice were you really expecting though? I mean, the anime that's being made is the anime that's being made. It's clearly not to your tastes, but your wailing and gnashing of teeth isn't going to change that. If you won't like what's being made, then why are you forcing yourself to partake in a hobby you clearly no longer enjoy? Take a break. Maybe come back later. It's not the end of the world.

Have you tried watching anime you think seem good instead of exclusively new anime coming out? The advise watch better anime isn't exactly revolutionary.

Well I've been dropping about 75% of shows I've been watching the last few seasons and find that most of the ones I marathon are quite a bit older. I suppose that a lot of shows have been "playing it safe" by cut and pasting the same thing over and over again, although there are still a few decent shows that get aired. Hell I think I've been spending more time watching HxH, GTO, Inuyasha and Code Geass than keeping up with recent seasonals, happens I suppose. Don't get me wrong I still love anime, but I suppose that once you start watching some of the better series your tolerance for mediocrity disappears soon thereafter

Twenty years ago we were lucky to get a third of the amount of anime we do these days. Three times the amine means three times the good/great titles but unfortunately still means three times the junk as well. I find myself watching more older titles as well, it's why beside the Crunchyroll sub I have I also check out Hulu, Viewster, Crackle, TubiTV, etc and sub to Hidive as well (formerly The Anime Network).

maybe a return to the anime you like is what you need? instead of watching the new stuff regarding obligations and the likes, maybe watch something because you enjoy it, not because you have to. Ancient Magus Bride, thus far, I'd consider a romance (maybe), slice of life (maybe) but it's definitely a dark fantasy. but maybe you should look outside your typical genre, don't watch something because it's suggested but because it interests you. I don't rely on reviews, I rely on reading up on it and then deciding. to me, things have gotten better and I'm not seeing repeats. granted we got the long on-going things like Crayon Shin-Chan, Detective Conan and One Piece, same with returns of Dragon Ball Super, Sailor Moon and shortly Card Captor Sakura. but you should look into other things and don't give up. I rather enjoy cartoons myself, so don't give up them just yet. perhaps even a break is needed? watch something else that might be of interest to you that's live action and what not. best of luck on your choices and decisions.
