In my case, I like how power is determined by super robots and real robots.

In a super robot series, the battles are usually determined by the robots' enormous, gradually-increasing strength, to the point that the pilot is superfluous. Hell, this is probably why Hasbro made the Transformers sentient robots from an alien world! But with real robot series, the mecha's strength and firepower are determined either by a professional pilot's skills in the case of the prototype or custom models, or the commanding officer's leadership qualities in the case of limited or mass-production models, and not so much the mecha alone.

I also enjoy looking up the differences between the individual and the group in mecha anime. In a super robot series, mecha range between solo like Mazinger Z, and combining robots in the case of Combattler V and Voltron/Go Lion. Real robots, on the other hand, range between prototype and custom models, and limited and mass production models.

for me, I rather enjoy how the mechs, even greatly made, still have their limitations. not just by pilot but by design. the conflict of politics and people wanting freedom.

I also enjoy horror so therefore I'm not in lacking of finding something that either messes with your mind or not failing to bring the gore.

as I also enjoy fantasy, well there's no lacking in things even if they are dark or could be dark, including the joys of magic girls. the magic is limited to what the character can do and not be all over the place and god mod, I rather enjoy how most of the anime I watch is cool about not going out of bounds, they could, but they don't, a lot of them keep it realistic and true to form.

Fight scenes for sure

Hollywood's better at large battles with lots of people running around with excitement and sound and explosions
Anime is amazing at smaller scale battles between ridiculously powerful people. And not just the animation of it, but the whole setup, the tension, the buildup. When they face off for the final (or any important) fight, you know whose fighting, for what, and generally how strong they are.

I love the never give up mentality as well, but that's seen across all genres.

I also love the sheer lack of fucks most anime gives. Not all of them and it's not always appropriate, but it's good.

The plots are also usually more interesting than western stories. Perhaps I'm just used to western stories, but the premises for anime are usually more interesting
