Holy crap did I forget how bad the animation was for this show, on episode two right now for my re watch before jumping into the games proper again.

Haseo's personality is so hilariously off base compared to what it is at the start of the game, which is understandable since it's his first time playing; but oh maaan is it cringe at times. Anyone else watching before they jump back into the games, I wish this got a remaster but at the same time kind of don't.

Roots is primarily about Haseo hitting rock bottom. G.U. is about Haseo growing from there.

I will admit, roots isn't the best anime, and yes BeeTrain doesn't have the best track record when it comes to visual quality, it's probably why they don't exist anymore, but I did enjoy roots regardless.

.hack//sign and .hack//roots are very peculiar anime, most people probably won't like them, but they do have a certain charm that I really do enjoy.
