On Reddit, I've been told that the Gundams from Wing and 00 were just one-off models that spawned from two different prototypes, including Wing Zero in the Operation Meteor Gundams' case, and 0 Gundam in the Celestial Being Gundams' case. Is this true?

And what about the Gundam frames from Iron-Blooded Orphans? If there were only 72 of them ever built for the Calamity War, then that would make them a combination of limited production models and ace custom models, the latter due their interchangeable external parts. Right?

The timelines, I'm fully aware of.

I'm actually talking about the Gundams, rather than the Gundam timelines. I know that the Gundams from Wing and 00 are specialized units, each spawning from either the Wing Zero or the 0 Gundam, two prototype models for these two different sets of Gundams.

Plus, the Gundam frames from Iron-Blooded Orphans would have essentially been limited production models as well as ace customs, the latter due to them being customized with different external parts to suit their respective pilots.

From what I can recall of Gundam Wing, yes.

The five Gundams at the start of the series are derived from a blueprint the scientists came up with collaboratively before they all had to go into hiding on different colonies. The original design was "too good," so they each designed and built a custom unit that specialized in only certain aspects of the original design.

I'd describe them as limited production models that have been heavily retrofitted in the field over the years.

A "custom" model is when you build a new unit with modifications to the original design. A retrofit is more apt in this case, since they've been adding parts or making alterations long after the manufacturing process.

The gundams in IBO were created with special reactors amd frames and in response to battle the mobile unmanned machine. I think.

In wing like people said the 5 units were built from the initial machine Wing Zero. The Tallgeese was the shows prototype. It was deemed to powerful, which they then used to create the Leos.

In 00 I think they were just all built from the 0 gundam schematics. Which would make sense.

So Gundam has an inherent start and end despite the alternate timelines?
