is there plans to expand the number of shows that can be searched via alphabetic option.

last I check it stops at the U's and number 999.

is this a roku or app limit?

They definitely need to break up the "alphabetical" stripe to be separated into individual letters (and special characters) each one as a sub menu. It's a pain trying to get even to the middle of the alphabet...

When is this going to be fixed the 999 limit isn't just the alphabetical section either I have submitted bug reports and tickets for months now when will this be fixed some (over 70) series are missing from the roku line up. We pay for ALL of them but it stops in the "U" section so shows like Zatch bell are completely missing from the line up. This is a paid service people lets get someone on this and get it fixed.

Actually, Crunchyroll staff rarely, if ever, bother reading anything in the forums outside of the help section. One of the moderators (all unpaid volunteers here) would have done that, (and probably only because it was something reported by another user) because of site rules, which you should read: http://www.crunchyroll.com/library/Site_Rules

2) Content created by and shared by users in Crunchyroll's community space where users interact with each other should be appropriate for the comfort of a wide range of users. Avoid especially salacious or graphically violent content, as well as material likely to be found offensive, including excessive vulgarity, and tasteless commentary or jokes regarding rape, sexual orientation, race, nationality, religion, etc. when contributing to forums, comments, guest books, groups, and user reviews, and when creating your profile.

I have contacted support and even chat with them. I sent them an email as well with all the details of this issue (I mean to me its a HUGE issue) This may not seem like a big deal to some because after all I get 999 titles however there are a LOT of good anime after "U" that I do not have access too on all my roku devices. CR is adding new titles every week these days (KUDOS FOR THAT) but that just serves to make the problem bigger as we will be in the "T's" soon This is a problem that has been reported for months now and really shouldn't be a hard fix. We aren't asking them to make a whole new app we just want to raise the limit from 999 to maybe 9999. I pay for the other 80+ tittle's now that are missing from the roku device. you can't even search for the tittles unless the show up in one of the other lists (such as recently added list). Please CR fix this

Still no changes??? CR keeps adding more and more and we keep loosing more and more anime. When will there be a fix for this??

well I opened yet another ticket with no reply or anything really still have 999 shows. more and more are dropping off too as they add more shows more shows go away

Still no reply from CR anywhere HEY CR if you could use my CR inbox as I'm not getting a darn thing from you about this issue in my email maybe use that to let me know what the heck is going on. Still stuck at 999 no update no info...

It's not just the 999 limit but they are also terrible at updating the Genre lists as well.

I think it must be a design issue with the application. They designed it based on their needs years ago and have outgrown it quicker than expected. Hopefully they'll fix it soon. There isn't a reason they couldn't add the manga to the app as well.

I opened a ticket and asked about the 999 limit, sorting through the alphabetical list and better updates to the genre lists.

Their response was this:

This is a known issue that's actually affecting a number of users. Our team is hard at work putting together a fix. Thank you for your patience. The issue with the newest episodes should be fixed by tomorrow.

It's obvious they just copied from previous emails. They even mentioned issues with newest episodes, something I didn't ask about and frankly aren't sure what they mean. But it might be that my morning coffee hasn't kicked in, not sure.

What I do know is that they didn't answer any specific question I posed to them. My suspicion is, before we get better answers, we'd have to find the name and contact information of the director over all support teams.

I noticed the genre lists issues as well because I was trying to find an alternative way to watch the missing shows (didn't work). CR doesn't keep it up to date so the missing shows are well still missing. Search doesn't work either as I have said unless the show that your searching for shows up in one of the other lists (like the popular or latest list) if it isn't there it doesn't show. I wish they would get off of there butts and do something its stupid that it can't be updated on a regular basis I mean we pay a LOT of money for it. I canceled my Funimation account the other day and may do so with CR as well just don't see a use for it right now I am hopefully that some of the new shows are awesome but just about every single show CR has is either cut or censored in some way. I am so sick of seeing black screens because there is "too much gore" or OMG she has nothing but underwear on!!! OH NOOOO black screen.... or white LOL I actually hate the white over the black censor crap. It's just soo much easier to get uncut stuff these days. I want to support the anime industry though so I keep paying and I wan't everyone else to pay too but if CR is going to ignore us and not address issues what should a consumer do??

Well that was a rant lol but seriously though CR has done a LOT for the anime community and I think its great what they have done but please CR don't become a corporate sell out stop the censorship and address the bugs in your apps. (BUGS FIRST PLEASE I WANA WATCH ZATCH!!!!)

I hope you are aware CR itself doesn't censor anything. They get the broadcast version for simulcasts, which is why they are censored. The reason you can find pirated uncensored versions for some (but not all) shows is because they are rips from the premium satellite channel AT-X in Japan.

Before you say, "CR should get those same versions", let me just mention that according to the last pricing info I saw, AT-X costs about 3 times as much per month as a CR premium subscription.

Thanks you for your reply and info but I have seen some videos on youtube that has convinced me that CR is indeed censoring anime. There was a write up on it I saw a few years ago and I think the animeman has touched on this topic as well. Am I right? Well I don't know and we may never know but I have seen uncensored anime on CR only to come back to the same anime and find that it is now censored (http://www.crunchyroll.com/demon-king-daimao) Demon king daimao was at one point uncensored and now it is go figure.

Maybe there is some confusion because when I say CR censors anime They will pick a cut/censored anime over an uncut original anime every time. That is the censorship I'm talking about although I do think that they may be digitally censoring anime as well (at least I wouldn't put it past them).

Anywho thanks again for your reply but it seems I have fell into my own trap and I became "one of those people" and got the thread off topic so I'm very sorry I hope the original issue of the 999 limit is fixed soon!!!

YouTube videos aren't exactly the bastion of truth and accuracy.

Speaking of Answerman. From https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/answerman/2015-12-14/.96479:

"Since streaming is usually thought of as being similar to TV broadcast, nobody really fusses too much about which version gets streamed internationally (and as a result, it's almost always the broadcast version)."

Demon King Daimao was never uncensored on CR. I was still watching simulcasts as they came out back then, and I can verify they had the same censored broadcast version then that you see now. I even covered this same ground almost 6 years ago:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-765691/demon-king-daimao?fpid=40362739

The only thing that has changed is that it is now possible to view a streaming version legally that is both uncensored and subtitled (at HIDIVE).

Maybe there is some confusion because when I say CR censors anime They will pick a cut/censored anime over an uncut original anime every time. That is the censorship I'm talking about although I do think that they may be digitally censoring anime as well (at least I wouldn't put it past them).

They don't pick, the take what they can get. Check with any legal service in another country or (or with Funimation, HIDIVE, or Amazon in the US) and see if they get uncensored anime simulcasts.

That isn't to say CR never gets uncensored versions for simulcast, but it is rare. (As I recall, their simulcast of Akame ga Kill! was uncensored).

Digital censoring of simulcasts would just be extra work. Why would they even go to that trouble on a tight deadline, especially when they have no problem with titles like the first 3 High School DxD series, or Yosuga no Sora?

For anything, however, there always seem to be an exception, and there is indeed one:
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-07-09/crunchyroll-streams-altered-charger-girl-ju-den-chan

The two key points there were: The lack of any broadcast version at the time (it was only on AT-X), and this was only 7 months into CR being a fully legit operation (which among other things, meant they didn't have a lot of simulcasts each season). I suspect the reaction to it had a lot to do with why they don't haven't bothered with any additional censorship since.
