Wow. That must have been hard.
So the policy in the company had it forbidden?

Did you two work in the same department?

How did everyone find out? Did you tell anybody? or was it obvious?

She had posted photos from our date onto her personal Facebook.
She was foolish enough to have had some of our co-workers on it.
The rest was just someone reporting the "romantic encounter" to Human Resources with said evidence.

We worked in separate departments but it was a small company, so the option of moving to another department wasn't available.
It was basically "we know you two went out on a date so you need to terminate whatever is going on or someone is getting fired."
Company policy was basically "don't date or have intimate encounters with your coworkers".
Most companies have similar policies in a nutshell.
I've had another situation where we were in different departments and we actually did have a relationship (prior to us working for the same company) and I was asked to work from a different location.

Well shit. what a mess.

Which is kinda a weird saying if you think about it

I agree. It can happen but its just better if it doesn't. Less pressure for you and the other party.

No but I had an awkward encounter. He commented on how beautiful my hair was at the vending machines and I remember he gave me flowers. I felt really awkward because he was way older than I was and I just wasn't interested.

when I was much younger, I was dating my now ex while we worked at separate departments.

Now its liking a guy from afar till you find out he's taken by a hot girl that works in another department. Or, like the poster above, have the really creepy older guys hit on you at the coffee maker.

The whole relationship thing is starting to lose its appeal. And most companies don't let anyone date while working in the same company. And I love my job security more than the slim chance at getting a guy.

That kinda thing doesn't usually end well.

I've liked many a co-worker but always made it a point to never date anyone who worked at the same place I did.

I've never dated a co-worker and have no interest in doing so. It's just wrong to me.
I've like a co-worker as a friend once, but not in the "other" kind of way.

Yes, she asked me out. Being single and never having learned the wisdom of not dating coworkers, I agreed. It turned out bad. Now I know better than to do that unless it’s a crap job and I figure potentially jeopardizing it doesn’t matter.
